I'm thinking about that Greg Wilson date now. Currently have a ticket to one of the bigger nights on the island that night, but Pikes would save me some money and energy and also spread the venues.

A bit outta touch with GW tbh. Bound to be good though. The right balance between populist and credible. Remember his comeback gigs with his reel to reel machine mid 2000s. He gave us a real schooling. Everything from Eddy Grant to Yello. A lovely man and master of his craft. He's written essays and essays on the birth of electro. A walking encyclopedia. A bit absent-minded too though like when he lost all his stuff in the big chill carpark (Mart might remember!?). Some of his edits are stonecold classics eg talking heads 'psycho killer' grace jones 'williams blood' and escort 'cocaine blues'. Enjoy

Never heard his stuff before, but currently listening to an old Essential mix. Nice mix of disco, plus Missy Elliott, Talking Heads, Happy Mondays.

I’ve lost count the number of times I’ve seen him. Had a few moments when he’s dropped the right tune at the right time. In some woods a couple of years ago and he played an edit of Frankie Goes To Hollywood- Relax. Absolutely phenomenal.Never heard his stuff before, but currently listening to an old Essential mix. I have to say that Greg Wilson is almost a stranger to me, but after reading these posts I started to feel like I should check it out.

I've been to loads of his gigs, in pubs, festies and god knows where else. He's very down to earth. A bit nerdy but doesn't generally play to nerds and isn't shy of classics. Personally I find he brings the old school to life with all sorts of clever trickery and that's why I think his kind of retro is way more interesting than say Clockwork. Maybe cos his focus is more the 80s than 90s. Youtube is a goldmine which will give you an idea.

He is just brilliant, he'll play some songs you know, some you don't. and lots of tracks that contain samples of tracks that you think you know.
This is his BBC R1 Essential Mix that I still play several times a year. An absolute CLASSIC of a mix.
