Pete Tong not using vinyl?

Are there any DJs that are still using vinyl??

Everyone I've seen in the last 5 years has been using CD, Serato or Ableton.

I am about to switch to CDs. Vinyl will always be my favorite, but the price of vinyl is what's making me change.

Saw Roger Sanchez and he uses cds. The only djs I notice using vinyl are ones trying to make the break through.

You mean the ones who either, don't get sent promo's, can't afford to swap all at once, or, can't be arsed converting all the vinyl to a digital format.

Keep it going

No keep this thread going, after nearly 20 years of using vinyl and only making the switch to CD last year it's interesting to see what others are up to.
At the end of the day its each to their own but the sound quality is so much better off CD.

Only if you use WAVs. MP3s are inferior to vinyl.

I find that high quality MP3's are okay especially if playing straight out of the PC.

Having said that I always record mixes in .WAV then covert to .mp3 for uploading. I have a mix in this thread http://www.spotlight-forums.com/showthread.php?t=49654 and all the tunes were bought at 192kbs MP3, mixed and recorded using Virtual DJ software then converted to .mp3 for upload.

What do people think about the quality? I could upload some of it in .wav for comparison if needed.

Just to address your last comment. Vinyl sound quality is actually better than CD quality, this comes down to the way analog sounds are digitised to put on CD, losing quality. This page explains it better than i can:

Although the actual sound quality of vinyl can vary depending on quality of pressing, quality of the tuntable etc.

Some of the advantages of CD and MP3 are obvious though, especially when it comes to lugging hundreds, or even thousands in the case of MP3, of tunes around.
