Perfecto Breaks, Lee Coombs

Leftfield

You need to check out the first CD of the first Sasha/Digweed Renaissance mix album. Awesome stuff, the first three tracks are three different mixes of Leftfields Song of Life track - they pick the mood up from dubby beats to rockin prog house - really sends shivers up your spine! Mix 1 & 3 are remixed by Lemon Interrupt a.k.a. Underworld.

It then really blows the roof off with Bedrock's For What You Dream Of (the dance track in the club scene from Trainspotting).

Blinding...

Breakbeat has a more complex beat that a house or trance beat. It's very recognizable once you hear it. The genre has really opened up, and is getting a lot more "airplay."

For instance: Sasha's AirDrawnDagger and Digweed's new album both feature breaks, as well as the older Way Out West CD and the new Layo & Bushwacka's- it's really come into its own. Lee Coomb's older CD (the Future Sound of Retro) is textbook breakbeat. I used to think of the breakbeat as an American thing because of Florida Electro, but the UK has developed its own sub-genre

As for the Sasha GU- yes, it features some breakbeat, like BT's Fibionacci's Sequence.
