That's pretty funny and sums up some people's ignorance completely. No matter what job I am in, when I say I'm going to Ibiza they instantly assume it is like "Ibiza Uncovered". I alwasy take great delight in educating them about Ibiza Town, Salinas etc. For years I didn't go to Ibiza as I thought it was too cliche. But since my first time there, I have been back every year.

In Britain, everyone knows about Ibiza and all have various imagined geographies of the island. However, anyone I speak to who has actually been to Ibiza Town/Play den Bossa etc all agree that is an amazing island!

I used to do that too (and still do sometimes)... talking about how it's a family resort and how you see kids and pensioners on the nice beaches, great dining, etc, etc... got tired of it after a while though, especially with the ones that say "ya, but you're only going for the party scene aren't you?" I don't bother with it most of the time now... better that they not know!

I normally just give them a good boot up the *rse and tell them to keep going to Shagaluf!

actually i'm mostly just surprised that many people haven't heard of it... lots of people in Canada haven't even seen "ibiza uncovered"... but we do have an eually trashy programme called "wild on...' which i'm sure is just as bad if not worse than 'uncovered'.

people who HAVE heard of ibiza do just think its a pole-dancing orgy...(while injecting dope of course!)

like others have said, i just say i'm going to Spain now... because most wouldn't have a clue what i was talking about.

I do think the general popluation is lacking way too much geographical knowledge...

I always say I'm going to Ibiza, if people want to get snobby then thats prob insecurity on their part.
I'll think of them when I'm sat on the terrace of the glam apartment we're renting in July. :lol: 8)
