Ok so after my computer crashing everyother week over the past 6 months I have finally bought a new one, and have made the change from PC to Mac. Have I done the right thing? it seems very different to my PC and scares me! 8O

What do you lot use, prefere?

oooh

powerbooks are sexy :P

You wont get any pc viruses on it :)

Most stuff is written for pc though. If you do a lot of production or editing on ur computer apple is better.

What do you use your computer for Sandi?

I can't believe you even need to ask that question.
Macs are better and that's all there is to it.

It just a personal preference thing really, apart from the fact its a pain in the ass to get applications suitable for the Mac.

I prefer windows based pc's.

Just for email, video editing, and being a webmong on this board really :P

Sure I will get used to it eventually, good to hear Powerbooks don't get viruses as my PC was full of them.

Sandi,

I've been working with pc for years and introduced to mac few years ago. Now, with the new OS X it's much easier and I really feel confident cos I know for sure I can't make any mess in the system.
I have a shinny powerbook too

Just think different

Yes I am getting used to it a bit more now, all my friends that have Macs go on about them being so great they must be I guess. Is yours a shiney silver one like mine?

Yes, mine is a 15" aluminium powerbook. Do you want to know a secret? It was an engagement present ;) Who wants a ring when you can have a mac (that's what my boyfriend says to me   )

The only problem was when I tried to explain my grandma that I finally got an engagement present but it wasn't a diamond ring...

I love my Powerbook soooo much 8) 8)

Will take a little while to learn all the shortcuts etc, but soon you'll never want to PC again..

That's true, but there's a thing that all pc users miss in a mac: the second button on the mouse (I know, I can use an usb one ;) )

I'm so used to CTRL- clicking, I catch myself doing it on the work PC ;)

Things that annoy me is - msn messenger for MAC is extremely limited, Windows Media Player on mac is hopeless (the copyprotection prevents most .wmv files being played), and Sonic Foundry don't port their software to macs.

The worst for me is that it's really difficult to find music on a mac (acquisition / limewire).
I have a non msn messenger version that's quite good, now I don't remember the name, I check it at home

Best thing for me it's the virus thing: it's like shagging with no condom 8O
