pc downloading help

I'm trying to download a couple of things from Trax2burn.com and a thing I get sent from a thing called Share Interoute, and when I get to the point where it says "click here to start download", it just closes the window (with a beep to accompany it) and the download doesn't seem to start.

I'm pretty useless at these kind of things - anyone any ideas? Can't be a virus as i'm protected against that - and wasn't doing this about a week ago.

Part of your equipment is obviously defective Stu. See diagram below:

Do you have a pop-up blocker on? If so, youll need to turn it off for that site.

Don't think so.

Could it be something to do with Norton's settings? It's a new PC with a new version of that on it.

tools> pop-up blocker> turn off pop up blocker

and take off any (google, yahoo etc) toolbars which do the same

it can't be that, as it already opens a numbers of windows before you get to the point the download starts.
It's really weird. Tried changing internet security settings, tried turning off firewall. Lost now.

got it to work - was a prob with the IE config with Windows XP Service Pack 2.
Yes, it configures IE to not accept downloads. It works similar to the pop-up blocker, only it blocks downloads. You can disable that protection permanently, or switch it off on a case-by-case basis (usually, a bar appears at the top saying it's blocked a download).

Separately - FYI to everyone, you don't have to switch off the pop-up blocker if you want to view a pop-up window. Just hold down the ctrl key when you click the link.
