Paul Oakenfold

Oakey's defense!

Why do promoters keep on booking him? Does anyone really give a **** about him anymore?

I do! I love Oakey. I don't care if he's talking to other people behind the decks. I care about his MUSIC he's spinning. Anyhow, I saw him in San Diego for my birthday last summer and I really watched him. Yes, he was talking to people (they all do to an extent!!), and he was pointing to the crowd with a big grin on his face......just like 90% of the other dj's iv'e seen:!: So i don't quite understand the backlash he's been receiving. I mean the guy plays excellent music IMO, mixes it very well, and plays to the crowd? What more do you want:?:

All i know is he plays on Satellite radio every week, the live sets from the past year. It's his "Perfecto On Tour" sets...and they are SLAMMING. Of all the mixes i've heard recently, his music really moves me, i mean makes me really want to dance my *ss off. It's pretty well electro trance w/ alot of vocals in there. Exactly my taste in music. I've even dubbed him "God Oakenfold". I know most of you will disagree, but that's just me. I like his music and I always have..........Someone's gotta defend the guy!! I'm waiting in the wings with baded breath for him to come back to my town!!! :spank:

......oh and i SWEAR his set at Cream for Radio 1 weekend in 2004 was probably the BEST set i've ever seen and heard. His music and the sound and lights at Cream was WHY i went to Ibiza in the first place. He was jumping around the booth like a little kid he was so happy! The place was just ELECTRIC. Never seen anything like it.

Are you for real? :)

If you want decent trance dj's you should check out Nick Warren, Paul Van Dyk and Armin.

Jokenfold aint fit to lace their boots!

Just hope he drops his Rock Star "I don't give a f**k" act and starts concentrating on what he's doing and working the crowd like he used to do. I remember when he used to cause the audiance to gasp in awe of his mixing.

Is Pure Pacha strictly house now?? It doesn't hurt to have some quality trance for main course and some cool house to get you warmed up. IMO:D

oakenfold is fat and sh*t he reminds me of a beaver... totally did my head in last yr at armada, hammered the bass levels up well too high when mixing n his beat matching skills were a joke... must admit some choons he played were top, and with the right DJ behind the decks mixing it in2 some proper choonage wuda sounded class... but no... oakey mixes a good choon like carte blanche in with BRAINBUG!! come off it....

Totally agree with you! He is toilet!

He is after the pound notes which don't get me wrong there is nothing wrong with it but p1ss off and do it elsewhere i.e. Hollywood! And take them other twats with you Guetta and Mark Ronson!

Have to say when I saw him at Gatecrasher Summer Sound System I thought his set was really good. I'm a big Oakey critic usually. Especially after the Essential Mix incident in 2006. He played some real good tunes. Obviously chucked in a cpl of classics to boot (You've got to haven't ya? Lol). Yeh if I want trance I go see the big guns but I dont go see Oakey with trance in mind anymore. He doesn't rele play trance. He will still pull out the odd special track though. One that'll knock you sideways.

As for his mixing.... come off it, its never been that good. Sure it has been a lot better though. He should at least get his beatmatching right but he's never taken time to plan his sets, he just picks the tunes on the fly and if two tunes dont go together then they just dont, no matter how well u mix them (i.e. carte blanche and brainbug).

I guess all I'm saying is dont go and see him and expect to be blown away and dont go and see him expecting it to be ****. Just go with an open mind. He's unpredictable these days for sure but when he gets it right, he really gets it right.

Funny you guys talk about a guy who changed ibiza in many ways back in the nineties.Without him you wouldnt have an ibiza to go too and take all the drugs you want and listen to all the great beats at some of the worlds best clubs. He sux so bad huh :?...Me personally have nothing against his style i like it all.I just listened to one of his sets last week and i didnt even know it was him untill i heard his name and i have to say i was impressed.

Good to hear he's been playing some quality set's recently. I'll be at the Terrace on the 3rd Aug and at Pure Pacha. I've always thought his mixing has been outstandingly good usually. Even though I've heard a couple of iffy sets over the last few years i'm still a big Oakey fan and try and book my holiday so I can catch him playing on the island.

I think Welders comment sums it up "He's unpredictable these days for sure but when he gets it right, he really gets it right."

June 25, 2008 Paul Oakenfold To Join Madonna At Wembley On Sept 11

With nearly 1 million tickets sold to date along with sold out performances in Paris, Lisbon & Zurich; New York, Boston, Chicago; Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver and 2 Mexican stadium shows on Monday, Madonna's Sticky & Sweet tour is once again poised to be the tour of the year!

The demand for tickets in Paris for Madonna's September 20th performance was so staggering that a second and final performance was added on September 21st. The Sticky & Sweet Zurich show at the Military Airfield Dubendorf August 30th is sold out at 70,000 and her show date in Lisbon 14-September is also sold out with over 75,000 tickets. In Vancouver, Madonna's October 30th performance sold 50,000 tickets in a record breaking 29 minutes. This past Monday, Madonna's Sticky and Sweet tour sold out two Foro Sol stadiums in less than 3 hours adding to a list of sellouts that include four sold out Madison Square Garden shows in New York City; 2 sold out performances in Toronto, Montreal, Chicago, Denver; and additional sell-outs in E. Rutherford, Boston, Oakland, Las Vegas, and Houston.

And now, London fans who missed out on tickets will have a new opportunity to see Madonna with newly announced special guest Paul Oakenfold on 11-September at Wembley Stadium. With the completion of the production for Madonna's Sticky & Sweet tour, promoters Live Nation announced today that the sight-lines are better than previously anticipated and as such a limited number of tickets in all price levels are now available from www.livenation.co.uk or 24 hr box office 0844 576 5483 (all tickets subject to booking fee). Tickets will be limited to 6 tickets per person.

Paul Oakenfold has long been one of the most important--if not the most important--name in modern club culture. He was one of the first DJ's to have a residency on the Island of Ibiza, leading to both a new sound and a yearly festival. He started regular "Balearic" club nights in London, attracting a crossover audience and remixed legendary bands such as The Stone Roses and the Happy Mondays, Along with production partner Steve Osborne, he's remixed tracks by legendary bands New Order, The Cure and Massive Attack. In 1991, he first worked with U2 remixing "Even Better Than the Real Thing" and "Mysterious Ways" from their Achtung Baby album. It was the start of a long partnership with that band which included his spot as DJ on their historic ZOO TV tour and the remixed versions of the band's "Beautiful Day," a number one hit for U2 on the U.S. and U.K. dance charts. Over the years, he's remixed tracks for everyone from Madonna to Elvis Presley to Justin Timberlake to Muse to Snoop Dog. He's the first electronic artist ever to be in the Guinness Book of World Records--for being the biggest DJ in the world. He's the only DJ to have a display case in the Hard Rock Cafe's Rock & Roll Museum. He has worked on the music for major Hollywood films including Swordfish, Collateral, Planet Of The Apes & Matrix Reloaded".

Madonna's Sticky & Sweet tour begins 23-August at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium with stops in Nice, Berlin, Zurich, Amsterdam, Dusseldorf, Rome, Frankfurt, Lisbon, Paris, Vienna and Athens in addition to the 11-September Wembley date.

Without him you wouldnt have an ibiza to go too and take all the drugs you want and listen to all the great beats at some of the worlds best clubs.

You think if Paul Oakenfold never went there on holiday in the late 80's then we wouldn't be going there today?

I hate it when people say that he discovered Ibiza. It was going to blow up anyway- besides, Ibiza has been a party destination for 40 years.

He never changed Ibiza one bit. He simply went there on holiday and came back spreading the word about the island and copying Amnesia resident Alfredo's style.

Thanks for discovering Ibiza Paul
We wouldn't have heard of it if it wasn't for you!

Ibiza becoming a clubbing phenomenon was always going to happen.

And I think it's offensive calling us faggots.

Calling us snobby yuppy wannabe ravers?
Well that's rich coming from a yank!:lol::lol:

Exactly the comeback I expected there from someone of your limited intelligence.

I'm not surprised you've travelled to Europe countless times- I would too if I lived in America!

The intelligent comeback sucked by the way.Its a last minute thing to say to someone when they have nothing else to say.

And for the record The UK is **** without america youd never be able to hold on to anything over there if you didnt have a super power behind your asses.Cowards go into a war and when you dont like how things are going you back out like lil b!tches.Always leave it up to America for everything.

Especially The food! The food sux over there meat sux and your pork is mushy.Didnt anybody tell you how to prepare veggies as well? Stick to eggs and beans you have that figured out right!

Other than Good beats and festivels the Uk really has nothing else to offer atleast spain has beautifull beaches and offers ibiza.Food still sux though!

Its a regular thing here in spotlight for the same little group of members to pin-point certain threads then fill in with there **** comments and if someone calls ya on it you all rush to save each other like whiney lil c*nts such as yourself.

For the record i dont dislike all brits or europeans for that matter just the **** talking ones like Neilly!!!
