Passport not stamped on entry

Was scanned though, no-one on my flight was stamped. Seems this is a regular thing...but what happens on leaving? Clearly there's an electronic record of my arrival, is that sufficient?

Just been chatting to a group off Brit women, one was stamped and two weren't so I suppose it's no big deal if the passport has been scanned

As @MelvinDeath says, new procedures come in very soon and it may be some sort of cross over period. I’m expecting a few queues in a few weeks when i travel.

“the Entry/Exit System (EES), which begins October 12, 2025, requiring non-EU travellers to register fingerprints and facial images at borders”

Thx, reassuring! If it's recorded by a scan, then I assume it will be scanned on exit.

Pity really, my pass is brand new and Ibiza ❤️ could have been my first and last stamp before EES takes over!
Try asking the border police to stamp the passport.

Here in Germany, they don't stamp passports of German citizens, but will do if you ask (I always ask them after leaving the US, so that I have a proof of departure from the US in my passport).

I did ask, there were two at the desk, but they just waved me away. Either it's the new system early, or they couldn't be arsed. Think it's a bit of both...

I wasn't scanned or stamped on entry or exit 🫣

On exit for me it was a little busier than usual and the officer was there so I still went to them out of habit whilst everyone else scooted by, if ever there was a sign that someone isn't thinking straight and to give them a bag check it would have been me 😂

At the airport now, I scanned my ticket, then nothing. No officials in the booths, and nowhere to scan the passport.

So unless somehow the flight ticket is linked to my passport number, I'm still in Schengen even though I'll have left! Be interesting when I return later this month.

the national police do not man the passport booths all the time. they only arrive a certain time before flights are departing to the uk (which i think are the only flights to outside the schengen zone from ibiza) in the past i have just waited until they turned up to have my passport stamped.

Crikey, I turned up 2.5 hrs early! But a couple of flights to London have (or are about to) depart so there's no gap for them to have a break.

However, noticed there are scanners at the gates, not used for Schengen so presumably we use them?

We weren't stamped going in on 20th Sept and then pointed towards the queue of shame coming out on 27th. Someone looked at passport but no stamp.

Assume all good but will report back on Tuesday when going back in...
