Just wondering how many on here who work get paid monthly?

I'm starting my new job (at long last) next Tuesday and to my horror ive discovered we only get paid the last Friday of every month, so ive to wait until near the end of May before i get paid meaning this month ill be skint , ive never had this before, ive always gotten paid weekly once i used to get every fortnight which wasn't too bad but monthly will be a disaster for me, i just know after ive paid bills, etc ill have 1 or 2 big weekends and ill be fu*ked for the rest, so how do you manage folks?

what sil said, only with a few more8O 8O 8O

actually when i worked i've worked in bars, a lot got paid weekly but everywhere else always been monthly.

ive been gettin paid monthly for 10 years now, its good for paying your bills but bad for your personal spends especially if u like to party.

the way i do it is to have 2 bank accounts both managed online, i know what my bills are each month and what i have left over for spending. I split whats left for spending into 4 then every friday transfer that weeks spends into my 2nd account. So basicly im paying myself out of my months wages on a weekly basis.

I haven't been paid weekly since doing odd jobs in university!

We get paid twice a month... perfect for me.

I've been paid monthly before. It takes some getting used to (and better planning if you don't have a reserve fund) but it's not too bad. The first month is rough though if you're starting after a dry spell. Best advice I could give would be to go easy on the spending and use credit cards (sparingly) as back-up.

monthly. as is everyone i know, apart from a few temps at the csa in birkenhead. but thats the least of their worries....

with a mortgage its better i think. Otherwise i would be saving a bit every week for the big payout at the end of the month.

How do i cope, well first week i live like beckham, second more like owen, third - a reserve team player & fourth - john arne risse!

When I lived on my own I used to pay all the bills first weeks and then the rest of the money I divided for weeks and I knew I had XX euros for food, going out, petrol and all that.

I think I was paid weekly about 1278341708934 years ago when I baby sitted kids

That's why I like getting paid every 2 weeks. Not as much budgeting involved.

first paycheck - spending money and whatever is over is savings (or travel money)
second paycheck - rent, and whatever is left is spending money

What an appropriate thread for today

I get paid monthly in my job.....the first few months I was here it was always the last Friday of the month which was great for all my bills / mortgage etc. going out the beginning of the month. However, since then they just pay me whenever they fancy (and 99% of the time I have to remind them to pay me:x )...the 30th....the 1st.....the 4th.....the 29th.....:x :x :x :x

I dont think Im being picky when I say this really annoys me....and for the month of April....still no pay.....hence why I am sat here doing funk all today.

Legally they do have until the 4th to pay me but even so....I think its completely sh1t AND I can see on the bank that they have paid themselves.

Reason number 4723947239423749 why I am leaving.   OK....rant over!

I get paid weekly but that's cos I freelance, I don't know of any one in a permanent job who doesn't get paid monthly.

you do now ------------------ moi!

my work is linked to the construction industry so its more common in that i guess for weekly payments

The budgeting is something mental, I didn't bother with two accounts and all that

I get paid weekly as well, but that cos Im a temp and my future hubby gets paid weekly cos hes a contractor, its suits us great cos we're useless with money!!! I dread when I have to go back to monthly pay 8O

I did have a permanent job last year where I was paid weekly, but thats cos my boss was a crook and I was lucky if I got paid at all! 8O w*nker!

I used to get paid weekly when I temped but ever since I have got paid monthly.

At my old job it was last day of the month which could be a pain sometimes like for example when there is 2 bank hols and you are still waiting for that dreaded last day, practically makes it a 5 week month!

You will get used to it after a while and you wont know any difference! Its just that tricky changing over period you have to get used to first!

Its easier to save with monthly wages as you can budget.

Same with me... all in the head.

I didn't bother with two accounts and all that
I've got multiple accounts but that's just because they're in different currencies (dollars, euros, rubles) and a 4th account back home.

Good to split up your savings to balance out currency fluctuations... and to avoid exchange rates when travelling (well, at least, when traveling to Europe or the US)

if i didnt budget id be eating tesco value beans half my life. the first motnh will be the worst but once thats over youll be fine.
