Very good blog post Bez! I can kind of see what Pacha are doing, and to be honest I now understand it. My only challenge is was this Pacha not always alive in the winter months? The madness of summer is only 4 out of 12 months when they packed it out to pay the rent!
For me it was actually packed out commercial nights like SHM / Tiesto and Guetta (and actually even Subliminal) that were the opposite of what Pacha is all about - and I don't mean that in terms of musical snobbery. They are all about quick fast fun and non-lasting music that has no respect for Pacha's history.
Whereas, nights like Cadenza had a very local Spanish feel to it, Defected had a pure house feel and All Gone even had a local Friday get-together feeling when Tong returned a few years back.
What I am trying to say (badly I know), is its the nights that I think stood for what Pacha was actually all about such as Cadenza, Defected etc are the ones that they are getting rid of! These brands worked well with Pacha and complemented it.
Also, Elrow at Pacha on a Saturday / Sunday would be heaven!
