Pacha

Ok, I know it's still VERY early in the Ibiza clubbing calendar but we've already booked our flights and accommodation and I'm a compulsive planner so, here we are . . . .

We'll be in Ibiza across the August Bank Holiday weekend from the 21st to the early hours of 27th August 2008 . . . Thursday to Tuesday, leaving on Wednesday. We'll definitely be going to Space on Sunday and my friends want to go to Pacha again having really enjoyed it last time we were in Ibiza . . . I think their enjoyment might have had a lot to do with the men they met and the yacht they ended up partying on! ;)

My question about Pacha is this . . . when is the best night to go? The options are Friday for Pure Pacha or Monday for Release Yourself. I've also been told that if you book a table for dinner prior to the club opening, you won't have to pay for entry into the club; is this correct?

Id say...

Depends if you'd be up for DC10 / Cocoon on Monday as an alternative, which might rule out Sanchez, or whether you had other plans for Friday eg. Manumission.

If you buy dinner you just walk into the club. Works out about the same as normal entry.

But..... You get a free meal (in effect) and the drinks are cheaper in the restaurant. Just dont order scallops if you are hungry.

entry.

We didn't go to DC10 when we went to Ibiza in 2005; which is the better night in your opinion? The other option is Pacha on Thursday night which opens up Friday and Monday; is Renaissance/Retro a good night?

DC10 is better in the daytime. My routine (well, for the past 2 visits) has been to do a DC10 session in the afternoon, take a break in the late evening, then head to either Cocoon or Release Yourself.

If you've only got one Monday, then flip a coin on Cocoon vs Release Yourself
(you'll have partisans here on both sides.. I enjoy both nights but they're very different styles)

Renaissance is great. Top night every time I've been. Hernan Cattaneo is amazing and he gets great guests (Tiga last year especially rocked the place)

Music wise, id choose DC10 over anything else on Monday. But I've made various attempts over the years and always messed up my DC10 visits. Which is annoying.

Depends whether you like house at the cheesier end of the spectrum, in that case id go to Roger Sanchez. But as mentioned above, none of their nights are really my bag, except for Defmix, but id prefer to have a quiet one Saturday.

You'll know nearer the time what you want to do. Im bad for over-planning myself, never ever works out the way you plan it to.

Does DC10 stay busy through to the night? I get the impression that it's very busy on Monday morning after Space finishes but I think we're more likely to go on Monday night.

Don't mind the cheesier end of the spectrum but we tend to prefer dirty, electro house.

No no no... "cheesier" house is Defected or Subliminal. Release Yourself is more a mix - some commercial house, segued into tribal beats, some electro and even techno thrown in for good measure, and some down and dirty house... call it a "musical journey" if the cliche doesn't bother you...

If I were going to pick just one Pacha night based on my last couple of years experiences, it'd be Renaissance. Should be mentioned that Def Mix gets some great DJs too.

I think we'll definitely be doing Pacha on the Thursday night for Renaissance. I think Saturday night will cocktails and dinner in preparation for Space on Sunday.

btw, you can just get a starter in the restaurant and still get in for nowt...but me and 2 mates got a starter each, a main course each and 2 bottles of wine between us and still only paid the same as the ticket price. And it was jolly nice. Just if they put a piece of bread, a tiny piece of ham and a tidgy bit of plastic cheese next to your plate, don't touch it (unless you want to)...you will get charged...

Cheesier end of the spectrum as opposed to Dc10...

The choice is, Dc10 or Release Yourself. I was trying to seperate the two you ninkompoop.

Personally id go to pacha for release yourself, but thats only cos i dont particularly rate DC10. For me its massively over rated and only has the reputation it does because of the amount of phuck ups in the place.

It all depends on what music you prefer. If you prefer all this minimal lark then you'll like DC10. If you prefer deep house etc then go for Sanchez.

I know this is sacrilige to some, but does anyone else think DC10 is pretty dire and is only popular cos of the latest house fad... that being "electro"? Ive been a few times and i just think its full of mulleted posers that think they're the nuts cos they've done a load of K and are freaking out and rolling around on the floor...
