Pacha reveals 2013 Parties

we all knew FMIF would be expensive...

what do you think about the 37€ for all other parties until mid june? i think it's really fair. of course I expect those prices to go up later in the season, but it's a good start I think.

I think, all things taken into account, other parties etc yada yada that 37E is a good price by Ibiza standards.

great prices imo! im guessing guetta price rises means the other parties can be cheaper! i say charge 150 for guetta ;)

Exclusive: Guy Gerber Reveals Creepy Pacha Ibiza Residency, “The Wisdom of the Glove”

As for the music, Gerber says: “My sound is an attempt to bring back what Ibiza was 30 years ago: more melodic, not just beats. More musical. The first few hours is going to be more challenging, sometimes there will be bands. “You come, you enter, and there will be body painting, all these lights and girls—all these things are happening—after a while it's going to start to be more house and tech music.

lol this sounds awesome

Fair play, he has been very honest there. I did suspect that not all the changes were those made by Pacha themselves.

I wonder though, in retrospect, would they still have chosen to part ways with Tong & Defected so easily had they known Morillo & Luciano would also not be staying?? As I had said before, I'm largely in favour in the changes they have made, but they are exceptionally brave to be so vast.

Some interesting points mentioned in the interview:

- Luciano inoficially confirmed for "Bomba"
- Problem with him is he might be only for 8 sundays available! So probably Vagabundos at Bomba not always with Luciano as headliner (went last year in the beginning of September to Cadenza and he wasn't there as well)
- Coyu not mentioned as resident at "Insane"

And I didn't get the point with Defected. Too underground for saturdays?

When Danny left pacha people knew who were gona go with him.It was even posted on here months ago that is going to be great for the club..

From reading the interview I think it's clear that Pacha has a very clear view about what each night should be. Tong & Defected (as much as loved them) went from Calvin Harris to Reboot (Tong) to bob Sinclair to Solomun (Defected) depending on the week.

They now describe a particular consistent style that they want for each night, and I think letting Tong, Morillo and defected (forced or unforced) was a good decision.

It's a fantastically balanced programme, and I'm now just getting boring raving about it so much.

It'll certainly be different and be interesting to hear how he gets on with doing that. Seems the seeds of Richie Hawtin's creative bug have been growing these last months. There's a little club on the harbourfront in Madeira which does all sorts of arty things alongside music, Sometimes it works really well and sometimes it's a bit sad. I'm expecting this to go a little the same way till he finds his feet.

Guy Gerber is a very elclectic guy and can swing from incredibly introspective and inaccessible stuff to some amazing productions like you hear on his Fabric CD. I think it'll very much depend on him getting the balance right. Many say they want to bring back to Ibiza what it used to be like - but I do wonder how much exposure M. Gerber really had to it.

Heard him play a really good set at Never Say Never last year. He also played what was probably a contender for the worst set I ever heard in Panorama Bar 'LIVE' - which he clearly thought was a good one. So I've never really trusted him musically - some DJs can swing from really atrocious to amazing. Some call it variety. But usually on a night out I prefer a slightly higher % of consistency. Guess time will tell !

^^ very interesting. Well at least someone has the balls to buck the trend. I for one am fully behind the Urgells and what they've decided to do. If it costs them profits I'd hazard they don't care that much. There are more important things in life than money alone. The path taken is as close to philanthropic as you can expect the nightclub industry to get - but there are many who will see and applaud the stance Pacha has taken here.

No offence, Danny, but Vegas sucks - and so did what Pacha became. It was distasteful and I honestly did not realize the extent to which the owners were led into it - if what is written is reflective of their true feelings. They come over as feelings of people who felt they had supported the creation of a monster.

Whatever they may have backed in terms of their global branding side and the musical leanings that represents, the original club was the home of a spirit which had all but died. The awful commercial house dominance that may sell tickets but sets aside any notion of musicality in a cacophany of hackneyed vocoders has not been driven entirely from their doors ... there may be historical loyalties and other reasons for that as well as underpinning revenues in a period of change ... but cradling creative talent and offering that up to a crowd who will appreciate it, is a far more worthwhile thing for Pacha to use its influence in aspiring to achieve.

Outcomes are judged against measurable monetary benchmarks in far too many spheres of life these days. They say wisdom comes with age - and in this case at least, I think we have seen demonstrated the exercise of the wisdom of age. I wish Pacha every success in the forthcoming Season.

kimajy, i dont take offence, you are more than entitled to your opinion. but can i just say, for someone who writes so well, you blatantly dont read so well, especially "between the lines" let me know if you need me to point out the glaring errors.

130,000 United States Dollars for one night's (set) DJ ing (or as a famous DJ once said "Playing other peoples records)

I thought footballers were bad, they must have good agents.

I've read some pompous guff on here before but this takes being up yourself to a whole new level.

the NY Times of all places covered the Pacha changes... with some interestingly different takes than the article posted above...

Interesting that it comes out 3 days after the Pacha interview with a, "reading between the lines"......anti-Urgell slant.

Kimajy and myself would have the same anti-corporate viewpoint on Ibiza. Greed, and the desire to make money is ruining the Island. Its a rat race to the top at present. Everybody is saying it in Ibiza....that the Island has changed, people are becoming nasty..... they would sell their own mother if it could add value to their product. The above unpleasantness is just an example of it.

The music Industry is all about protecting itself and generating profits for the people associated with it. The bottom line always will be.... whats in it for me. The recent cancellation of the Ibiza Rocktronic festival was due to money...simple as. Dont care what spin some people want to put on it.

If certain acts want to gravitate to Vegas, then let them. Vegas is a temple for false gods. It will appeal to a certain crowd, more luck to them, hope they enjoy it...its their choice.

Ibiza should always aim to keep it real. Thats the Islands true identity. I hope it stays that way.

BEZ sorry you know nothing about why 123 was cancelled and just making wild statements does not make it so.
and in fact you dont need to read between the lines so much although if you do you will see more.
here are some lines you dont need to read between.

But as the scene grew, the elder Urgells eventually became disenchanted by the music that made them millionaires.

Electronic music, Piti Urgell said last month, “hasn't evolved in 20 years and is for idiots.”

I know more than you presume about Rocktronic. It was common knowledge what was been said by one of the main promoters of the festival BEFORE it went ahead last year.

With regard to the Urgell comments.... I think they are disingenuous to the context they were spoken in. Its clear somebody has a agenda here.....

Electronic music, Piti Urgell said last month, “hasn't evolved in 20 years and is for idiots.”

"...obviously we were happy to charge those idiots heavily for drinks and entrance but now we've banked the cash we can insult everyone we happily gained from, punters and employees alike..." he may have continued....
