basically confirms what i was saying.

I'm in PdB this year after many stays in San An so i will be checking out Sankeys and Pacha on the nights we have no plans and see where it takes us. Sometimes the nights you have no expectations of are the best and you can end up going somewhere that you normally wouldnt try and they end up chucking you out at 6am lol

Keep the expectations low re Sankeys...go on a Tuesday and let me know how it turns out for ya :)

Does that mean they can reduce the door tax then with less big promoters to pay?

If you dont have to pay the promoter in advance you can be more "flexible" in adjusting ticket prices week after week with regards to the attendance.

@nostrum
THX for your comment! Always great to read your expertise:)

I agree with a lot of Stivi's & MW's comments. I think it is an exceptionally bold move for Pacha to revamp 5/7th of their line-up.

As for Gerber I expect this new residency to launch him into stardom. For my money, definitely a top, if not thee top, contender for taking the plaudits in 2013 in the same way Solomun did last year. His live sets are so good. Once word gets out, I expect this night to flourish. Awful name though, for a record company or a club night.

imho:

MO: don't think chuckie's quite big enough but might end up with decent numbers as competition is pretty underground on a monday and I expect them to give everyone coming out of guettas ushuaia a wristband for a carryon at pacha.

TUE: will work like a charm and is a nice way to celebrate pachas birthday

WE: can't see the night working at all. gerber's just too 'small'. and with shootingstar jamie jones and his support in DC10 at the same time... can't imagine why they chose him from all possible underground collectives, who are far more popular. what about visionquest, innervision, appollonia, crosstown rebels or say maya jane coles. having said that i personally like gerber, so: prove me wrong!

FR: will work better than wednesday, especially since headliners are on rotation apparently. coyus warmups might end up as the surprise success of the season! with regard to 'music on' at amnesia I hope they focus on house rather than techno.

SA: can't see a lot of differences to the defected lineups so: will work!

SO: I predict sundays drawing the biggest numbers along with guetta. I can't be the only one who doesn't like sankeys' dark basement and prefer the legend that is pacha along with its rooftop.

Well ... I am quite excited about the new Pacha lineups this Year.
On the one hand, Pacha is my personal fav since a lot of years. On the other hand, the concept they had was way too overdone.
So last year, I really felt like attending a big teenie party most of the times I went in there.
Almost only mainstream, too little quality.

Nevertheless, I hope they're not trying to be too underground. Since this is just not credible in any way and would only be ridiculous for Pacha :D

wonder if 90 % of the typical pacha-crowd ever heard of any of these "new" dj-names b4
- besides that bloke trashing it on thursdays ...

I think Pacha's new underground nights and underground scene in general has the potential to be as credible as any on the island. Remember Pacha has a long, long history in IBiza that wasn't always about the big name DJs like Guetta etc...

Think there is a slight re-writing of history here! Just look at the line-ups for All Gone Pete Tong @ Pacha over the last few years and for Cadenza. While Pacha are most def moving some of their nights VERYunderground - since 2010 there have been many many amazing nights - but inverted snobbery has probably meant many peopel missed the likes of Matthias Tanzmann smashing Pacha at 7AM!

Agree. As said before a few people have forgot that Solomun had a mini-residency at Pacha last summer with defected! Can you imagine Solomun with a DJ booth in the middle of the room in Pacha. Perfection...

Sure, wouldn't ever argue about that.
Just seems to me that underground is the new mainstream ;)

brave move tho - throwing their weight behind Gerber as a "name led night"
Solomun was easy after his success last year

but the easy move for Pacha would have been to throw a torrent of money at the likes of Jamie Jones to run a night

agreed

Wednesday & Friday's are really shaping up to be absolutely awesome the more DJs that get announced. Looks like the Fabric residents: Craig Richards and Terry Francis are also appearing at some stage at INSANE on Friday. Never thought Pacha would have the balls to go this far - but seems they have!
