...playing soon in zurich.

really want to catch him - what can i expect???

barbie? robo? all other gurus? what d'ya say?

thanks in advance! :D

he is/was(?) part of the defmix stable and has played regular on saturdays at pacha alongside knuckles, morales, hec romero, etc.

very very deep grooves, from deep house to tech to prog. a lot of his production work is very progressive. (i think on digweed's global underground Los Angeles CD 1 - he either produced, co-produced, remixed, etc 4 or 5 tracks). 'Love in Traffic' is awesome but for me his best work is the 'path' remixes he did c.2001 of FSOL's Papua New Guinea. ripped space apart everytime it played!!!8) 8) 8)

i used to see him regularly play the breakfast slot at we love sundays a few years back and his melodic, throbby, proggy grooves were perfect for that time of the morning inside. all melodic basslines with the odd vocal thrown in for good measure.

Highly recommended and a really nice guy too;)

I like him, but i would only see him in Ibiza if there was no other option on that night ( so on a Saturday, there isn't much choice). I usually like my dance music with a bit more drive.. but he is a good DJ.. i woudldgo, especially if he's coming to where you live

He played in Lausanne not long ago; very eclectic house and he is a real cool guy.
@Nostrum: if you want to make a move to Loft/Lausanne this Saturday; Carl Craig

do you go to zurich every now and then or do you "only" go out in the lausanne/geneva area? or have you been in berne when shakedown played?

We've been to the "closing" of Dachkantine:evil: Also went to Derrick May & Carl Craig at Q. We go to ZH but not too often. Weetamix in Geneva is the only spot we go to, the rest is crap.
Shakedown are actually friends, they just have an album out and doing their promo.
If you're interested; Mandrax(half of shakedown) is having a monthly night at Mad/Lausanne called Hooba Hooba. The next one with Digitalism.
Cheers.

He was the resident at Twilo when it opened I think on Saturdays and Danny Teneglia was Friday- or maybe the opposite....of course I was in a K hole for the mid 90s but I seem to remember him being a good dj...hazy but good memories - I am sure heis worth cheking out now-

I bought the Renaissance discs last weekend and listened to them tonight... great stuff.

The Nubreed is also great and I saw him play here in Moscow last year. Definitely recommended.

i also got "3D" about two weeks ago - great compilation, and every CD is completely different!

review of saturday night:

got into the club at 1am. basically, i don't like the club too much (club Q in zurich), because the air inside is really bad and people there are often a bit too arrogant for my liking...but on the other hand, Q mostly has the best line-ups for all kinds of house music. so here we go!

when we arrived, lime (a swiss dj) was ending his warmup, nice work but nothing too spectacular.
then satoshi tomiie began. the first two hours were full of pure basic techhouse. very little melodies and little vocals...but many bleeps, clongs and booms. took me a while to get into that, but after the first few tracks, i liked it a lot. for his third (and last) hour, he brought the pearls of his case - quality stuff and the club went right off!
if i'd ever have the chance to see satoshi again, i'd definitely go. and to all going to ibiza this year - if you don't want to do space on a sunday, then why not go to defmix@pacha on sat, when he's playing!

after satoshi, our swiss heroes () continued. first dj gogo (who also played/plays at space opening/closing:!: ), who played a proper techhouse and electro influenced set and then steven s who ended the night. nice detail: he dropped "body language" (mandy vs. booka shade) as last track at 9am. well, i am sure you all know this tune - what a nice one to end such a night - this tune so reminds me of ibiza 2005! :D

got out of the club and it was all sunny 8O 8O 8)
thought about going to some afterhour club, but then decided to go home, which was a good decision. slept all day and all night and today i'm feeling quite fine! ;)

Satoshi Tomie is playing at Type next month, along side Fontaine and Mutiny.

Well Nostrum, I hope on this ocassion he keeps the bleeps, clongs and clunks to a minimum and plays some melodic tracks!
Thanks for your little preview for next month 8)

My recollection is a bit fuzzy, to be honest, but I saw Tomiie play in Moscow on Friday and I don't recall it being to bleep/clong/clunky at all. Seemed like straight-up deep house to me, not especially techy.

you're right morbyd - also when he played in switzerland lately it wasn't THAT techy-edged, it was more deep.

but if ferd is waiting for some melodic stuff then i'm afraid he probably might wait all night...his set in zurich was defenitely far from melodic!
