.............been headhunted for a nightclub in my hometown for the last six months. Been ready for a move for a while, but, as I'm self-employed and this is my only income, it's a bit risky making any kind of move. I was even asked just last week to go and work there on Saturday night. Said I couldn't as I was already working in my usual residency.........loyalty and all that. Monday got a phonecall, would I go and work for this club on Saturdays. Said I didn't want to upset my current residency. Then, I was made an offer I couldn't refuse, a permanent Saturday night with more money than any other DJ in the area............ by a long way!!! Basically, city centre rates in a small town. So I said I'd think about it overnight and give an answer the next day.
I have to say in recent months things seemed to be going downhill a bit in my residency. The boss would be upstairs watching TV even when it was busy. I had my money cut back a few months ago and said I would be looking for something else. The last 2 weeks we've had only one doorman working for a place that has over 200 people in regularly!
Now that's a bit scary, but why? Was this more cutbacks I wonder?
Tuesday I accepted then went to tell my boss at my usual residency. To my surprise the place was locked up and I couldn't get hold of my boss on the phone either. Saw her last night, she was obviously upset (been there over 4 years), but I said I wasn't leaving, I was only packing in Saturday nights. I would still be there Friday nights. She said that I could work for her forever, but, if I leave and it goes pear shaped I wouldn't ever get back......sounds like a contradiction in terms.
By the time I got home she sent me a text message saying basically she spoke with her hubby and decided to chuck the toys out of the pram!
Ah well, new residency on Saturday........ooh exciting!
...........and looks like I'll be out for a drink on Friday nights for now.
