£45 for 2 of you!! 8O

We shop at Sainsbury's each week (spend around £140/£150) and wouldn't say we buy anything more than we need. It's always all gone by the following week.

Then g/f spends about £50 mid week topping up on fresh fruit/veg.

Can't really see how we can spend any less without shopping at Aldi/Netto

Going to look into buying organic from independant shops but can't see us making any savings.

£200 is for our entire food shop, we don't spend extra on lunch etc. The only added expense is when we dine out which is probably once a month or so.

I'm honestly gobsmacked you guys spend so little! :?

Drew, if I add my midday lunches in the sun, Pep work lunches, our dinner out and the big monthly shopping delivered at home that would be close to 100€ / week for the two of us if that helps to make you feel better ;)

'fraid not.

I think i need to re-examine our shopping needs.

usually the one at marylebone, sometimes to borough (a bit more expensive), occasionally round to scoob's local, broadway market.

as for choice, that's kinda the point. everyting is farmed within 50miles of london so it cuts out 'food miles'. you can only buy what is in season. it makes you eat much more healthily and you do have to think more carefully bout meal planning. winter can be a bit of a bore as there are only so many things you can do with parsnips and sweet potatoes.

bout the only exception is bananas which, obviously, dont grow terribly well in essex!!

as for drew's excessive food budget:
eg, last night i made hoummus. it took bout 5 mins to grind up chick peas, a bit of lemon juice, oil etc. total cost, less than 40p. cost in supermarket £1.25. it tastes way better and contains no 'hydronated' this and 'processed' that.

easy

Makes sense but i'd need to take a couple of days off work each week to make it all myself

May give your quick huommus recipe a try - love that stuff!
