OH MY GOD!

Without going into the inherent offensiveness of either yours or Tycoon's posts, it does seem as though the UK could do something about this gazumping thing. Creates uncertainty in the market.

What's offensive about stating a fact that I'd rather live in England and run the risk of being gazumped than live in America or France

Funk that, give me uncivilisation if being civilised means living in France or America

Don't play innocent and act as if your post was simply an expression of your personal locational preferences. It was intentionally worded in such a way as to be interpreted a dig at the US (and France). Don't say that's not true - you'd be lying.

I realize in this case you were just reacting to Tycoon, but in general, the constant American bashing around here is getting excessive.

Tycoon had a valid point, if put perhaps a little harshly - gazumping is not possible in a normal real estate market. You'd think the country that gave us Locke would have fixed that by now.

I'm not acting innocent, I'm saying I wouldn't like to live in America or France cos I don't particularly like either of those countries and I'd much rather take the risk of being gazumped (say 5 times at most or however many times you're going to move in a lifetime) than live in one of those 2 countries just so I never risk being gazumped

It's not 'American bashing', I'm stating my opinion, you know those things we're entitled to express

Are you just trying to wind me up or what?

Tycoon's point was very obviously not that you should move to the US or France to avoid being gazumped. Therefore, if you want to put your response solely in that context, then you've gone off on a tangent

The point was that the UK (or, apparently, England and Wales) should fix the system so that gazumping is less of an issue.

Utter utter tosh.

We could be here all day, but to suggest France and the US are more "civilised" hahahhahaahahahahahah is simply ludicrous.

And you know it (and that's coming from a great Anti-America-Basher)

You don't have a leg to stand on on this one.

As you can see, I already stated, perhaps in too subtle terms for you, that I thought Tycoon's use of "civilized' was not appropriate.

So, in fact, I do have a leg to stand on. In fact, unlike you, I have 2.

Morbyd why do you always jump on the defensive everytime someone dares to say anything against your precious country, you really need to take things less personally

Or, due to a grave inferiority complex, you've taken the smallest of things, and tried to have a pop at the most miniscule aspects of English life.

Gazumping has nothing on, well you and I both know we could be here all day.

It's not like I wake up every morning thinking "Yey, we have gazumping..." but it's the mootest of points, and you excel yourself in stating the obvious once again.

As I said, a cheap attempt at England bashing, isn't it?

If it were just every once in a while, that'd be one thing. Ha ha, laugh it off. But it's just gotten a bit frequent lately... subtle dig or overt pop, whatever, I think it's pretty damn inconsiderate.

If you've got a valid criticism - fine. But, while I don't agree with the way he put it, Tycoon had a valid point about the property markets.

No inferiority complex here... and this "miniscule" aspect of English life might not be on your mind in the morning but it makes it difficult for homebuyers.

Oh, and I've stated the obvious again? As if you find the most obscure ways to take your daily sarcastic digs at everyone. Worse yet, you do so without offering anything more of value to the discussion than this elusive "sound" of yours.

How are Chelsea getting on these days?

Quite well, thank you

When can we expect the irresistible wave that is "your sound" to take over the dance floors? ;)

In good time.

Why do you ask? I wouldn't have thought it would be your thing? It's takes a very discerning ear.

Oh dear!

What on earth's happened here?

Shall I throw a poppy into the equation to calm everyone down?
