Xavi is out for the 6 months.. Misses all of the season plus very likely World Cup for Spain.

Im devastated. He is such an important player for Barca and Spain. Im perhaps more worried for Spain as we dont have anyone of his quality in the midfield. I guess Barca still have Van Bommel + Iniesta to fill his role.
We need Iniesta to come through and show us his potential. I think he's got the skill to do it.

I feel so sorry for the guy, world cups come once every 4 years and he's at his peak now.. :(
 
that means my boy................xabi alonso..........is going to be THE player in la copa mundial.

Xavi is one of the best central midfield players in the world. Will definately be up there with Lampard and Gerrard in the next 2 years or so, shame he's out for so long but I'm sure MvB will do a job for Barca - he gets a few goals too.

Was gutted when he snubbed Spurs but I cant say I blame him, and we ended up with Davids anyway so I was more than happy with that.

wait till were in the CL, and i bet ya, all the superstar players who cant get a game with their clubs will come knocking.

youth with a smattering of experience is the way forward.

Grego, you might be right about Xabi Alonso, he'll probably start for Spain now.

Yep, its all coming along nicely at the minute. Should slaughter Sunderland tomorrow too, do you ever go?

As for Xabi Alonso replacing Xavi for Spain, its not a bad replacement is it :lol: Alonso its absolute class.

i agree with you ferd..........van bommel and iniesta can do a job but are both slightly different from xavi. van bommel is a more all round midfield player where iniesta is, for me, a more attacking midifielder.

xabi alonso is more like xavi in the way he links the play and plays simple (but beautiful) football. like pep guardiola.
