NY bar suggestions

Hey kids, will be in NY next weekend, wonder if anyone can recommend some nice cool laid back and non-pretentious bars? Will be on my todd (and working) so just for a couple of beers before bed :)
 
Plenty of options anywhere, but Downtown (East Village.Lower East Side) and Brooklyn are where most of the better bars are, imo. Let me know where you will be staying - I will be happy to give some suggestions.
 
im going to new york in october and i will be going out most nights im there. staying in the vanderbilt any suggestions

It really depends on what type of music/scene you are interested in - Vanderbilt is in a rather boring/sterile neighborhood, but is pretty well located for exploring downtown. Feel free to PM me for further info.

they have most events listed each week - as October rolls closer I would check that.

And Key Bar is a great spot to check out as far as bars go.
 
Go to Cielo if you can. If you get a chance to catch David Mancuso at The Loft do not miss that. Antonio Occasio will be another treat if you can get to see him.
 
Cielo is high on my list- but only go if you have some late meetings the next morning- as for after-work/earlier bars, it really depends on where you are staying...
