North Korea

Isn't all of the testing a response to lift economic sanctions? Tought NKorea is already under UN sanctions.
@Morbyd: China got the technology and only China could stop NKorea from building their bomb. It's more US vs China to me.

Depressing. True. But I'd trust the Koreans more than the mentalist Iranian's who are edging very close to enriching sufficent Uranium for a go at producing their own 'atomic bargaining card'. Any world leader whose publicly espoused foreign policy is to 'wipe Israel off the map' is somewhat concerning - No ?

 It's people like us who get off their arses and do something positive to make a difference

Right on. Power to the people. I'd be more than happy to throw something at the man (or smash up a McDonalds) in the name of nuclear disarmament and free trade. (as long as it's not on a night when I've got plans to do something more interesting.

Obviously any nuclear proliferation is bad.

However, if the world's remaining superpower subscribes to a doctrine of preemption and feels it can enact regime change anywhere in the world with impunity, what's the regime of a decent self-respecting sovereign country supposed to do eh?

Get some tesco bags and and march around the flat !!!! maybe !
Love n peace maaaaaaan ..

Missle-mounted or not, a boat or a tunnel can mean doom for japan or s korea... I think it is time for nations to unite in the name of what is right, not divide because of a desire to go against anything the US gov says. What happens to n korea must be an example to Iran, and we must also discontinue allowing Iran to spit in the face of the wishes of the global community. I hope that whatever the UN decides in the next few days/weeks is the correct course of action to keep the world safe.

They can do what they want....unfortunately.

They pulled out of the non-proliferation treaty three years ago so Bush has no right to do anything about it.

Three years ago they did say they wouldn't be building or making weapons with their nuclear power, only making electricity, but pretty obvious what they had in mind.

Bush has no right to do anything, even though it's pretty scary.

Why is it all about 'what bush will do...' This is not a Bush/America against n korea thing. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it is in the entire world's interest and right to do something.

total hypocracy................:x

altho it is against every principle in my body to wish that they possess one, why should North Korea not be allowed to develop nuclear weapons - if that is what they wish to do.

Jesus, if a country run by shady businessman and Hollywood actors can possess them then some tiny commie state, concerned only with itself and little more, should be no cause for concern.

Yes it is hypocritical!

But they are a very hostil country, half of N Korea are starving to death, yet they find money on nuclear weapon development!

North Korea are certainly hostile to South Korea.

I think the issue is we know it's unlikely Blair would drop nukes on anyone, but this guy is accountable only to himself. And he's a delusional meglamaniac.

The same applies to Iran, I think it's their right to have nuclear power if they want, but when the head of state starts saying that Israel should be wiped off the planet, and then saying "oh by the way we're building a bomb" it's worrying that they don't want these weapons simply for a deterent.
