No more Yo****oshi at Pacha

But MAW aren't Defected artists are they - I'm MAW's biggest fan but they're very different to what you'd hear on a 'normal' Defected night and were just one-off guests. I think they had Krivit there another week in a similar vein but the rest of the weeks were just your standard Defected artists weren't they playing the same old same old :?

They're Soul Heaven Artistes in Europe, and who do they put there Releases out with Defected!! Some of their Artists are good, eg Sandy Riverra.........

I couldn't agree more, a few years ago Pacha had a range of diverse nights (Renaissance, Perfecto, Ministry etc), now I think you could put the average punter on the streets inside Pacha on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Friday and they would hear pretty much the same stuff on each of those nights and probably wouldn't know a difference. At least Thursdays offered a bit of reprieve with Yo****oshi/Renaissance/Ministry doing the Thursdays nights now it's going to be the same old same old Monday thru Friday

To be fair, I think Pure had a decent selection of guests this year, the obvious weak links are Guetta and Sinclar (I know for a fact Sinclar practically killed the Closing Party). I think this is a fairly diverse selection across the board.

Laurent Garnier
Steve Lawler
Jeff Mills
Danny Howells
Groove Armada (didn't play your favourite once Barbie apparently, and going by Cato's emix and Sessions release it probably went down really well)

Garnier was outstanding.

I do like Pure but I think the crowd can be a bit odd.
The other nights dont really do much for me though to be honest, theres far more exciting things going on in the island than to waste money there.

All true, but I don't agree that Pure is any more special then Subliminnal (except with guests like Lawler and Garnier).. It's just Pacha style all the way.

But I have to be honest, didn't go to Pure this year.. So I'm just sayin'

The thing is you can have the bestest guests in the world at Pure Pacha but you know once Tongy comes on afterwards he's going to kill the place

That's the problem with Pure. Tong's always the worst. Would be a good idea if he just opened the party instead of comin' on in the middle or at the end.. Or just not show up at all and only do what he does best. Invite pretty good dj's and promote the damn party :D

Or just not show up at all

I've seen him play @ Pure Pacha after the likes of Danny T, Deep Dish, Tony Humphries etc etc and never have I seen a DJ kill the dancefloor like he can

In his defence I have seen some blinding sets by him over the years but a lot of the time you do think he'd be better off staying at home.

I kown what you mean.. My worst Tong-memory would be him playing after Miguel Migs and J Jay.. That's music you have to like of course but the whole place (@ Pure) was packed with people who were into a good old night of San Francisco-deephouse. He came after that and really destroyed the whole freakin' atmosphere! I have no idea what get's into that guy sometimes..

Personally I wouldn't normally touch Defected with a bargepole but if they had someone like MAW or Krivit guesting then I'd be there like a shot.
MAW aren't Defected artists but they do book them quite often (Krivit too).
Louis Vega was there in June while we were there.

The night started off lame but got quite good around 4am until closing when he took the reins. The main downside is you have to listen to Simon Dunmore as part of the build-up

Still very bummed about this Deep Dish thing. Anyone hear if that means Renaissance is also out?

That sounds a nightmare, I love the early JJ and Migs stuff and when you're in that kind of mood the last think you want is Tongy popping up killing the atomsphere

My worse Tong memory was at the Closing one year - we had Danny T, then Deep Dish (and this was before Deep Dish got too big for their boots  so it doesn't get much better than that) then Tongy stepped up at 6 and I've never seen such a mass exodus from Pacha

being a gigging radio1 dj means you cant please people because everyone just expects you to be ****e. 2 tong sets ive seen this year have been great (if a little cheesy at times, but its ibiza after all - we are allowed to be a bit less snobby out there :)). the pacha crowd seem to **** off when he comes on regardless. I watched a mobbed pacha go crazy for an absolutely ****e sinclar set at closing, and the crowd at opening was hardly appreciating garnier anyway.

his essential mix was also one of the best of the year. cant comment on other pures cause I wasn't there. each to their own i suppose.

anyways, im still pissed off at getting charged 60 bucks to get in for closing. was on the guestlist, got there in time, but the ****y wee door guy said i looked "unwell". I was alright, but i think he thought the english guy next to us (who had just announced that the cactus was his sister) was with us. 60euros later and my illness had magically disappeared.

Its ok, Jeff Mills killed the place even BEFORE Tongy came on last June..

I like tongy, he does exactly what it says on the tin. At least you know what to expect from him.

I hope this news about Yo****oshi means theres more proggy Renaissance on thursdays.. I want Desyn Masiello to have his own night!!!

it definately needs a bit of diversity, even with deep dish the pacha lineups looked well dull this year.

space owned it by a mile...

ummm i don't know if this is such a good thing for guetta, because his nights in ibiza were exclusive and now if he has a weekly residency he's gonna get even cheesier and not gonna try as hard.... plus it sux cause its gonna be the same night as cream

and did we ever find out why he stopped playing at space??
