No more Armada?

As I said before, this is sad news. If this was Amnesia's decision then I undestand why they made it. I went to Armada twice last year and both times there was room to dance. That's another way of saying that it probably wasn't producing the $$$ that the club was expecting. They even resorted to trying out a hip-hop room on the terrace. That was a total vibe kill if you tried to wander into that place. So, I'd tend to believe that the rumors are true based on simple economics...I mean, Armada was one of the least expensive nights on the island and they still couldn't come close to filling it. Maybe I'll take Tuesday night off this summer....my body really could use the break ayway...

maybe the hip hop room is why it suffered... i didnt know of this till you said 8O

in my view the majority come for dance music in some form and the hip hop market is a tiny minority (in ibiza that is)

if you are to go to armada you should have the option to house it up on the terrace if your not to into your trance ... this would surely allwo groups of people to go together (like what happened at cream this year for our holiday group) but by having hip hop it just seperates people and they say 'lets wait till thursday' no doubt

seem like they killed it themselves :spank:

... Amnesia ... Armada ... a hip-hop room on the terrace ...

I was there at the end of July last year and it was dead on the terrace...but to be fair, when I went to Armada in 2006, the terrace was really quiet too. I don't remember who was promoting in the terrace then. The dancers were all dressed up like naughty airline attendants....me gusta! :D

It was Sundown...i was flying with its promoters from Barcelona to Ibiza and went to the opening.it was quite busy on the opening night, don't really know what happened later in the season but their line up was not too strong from what i remember.

Doh, those are either festivals in UK or a regular club night that he gets booked at Air (Godskitchen) nothing new there, and they will continue to book him.
Armin has grown and far surpassed lame Fudge Jules, think today...
Now talking about Ibiza and Amnesia is another thing, he's not going to
give up his own night, what's the matter with you...
I am a trance fan and I like the one that he plays mostly, just because I don't like PvD or JJ doesn't mean ****, or does it mean everything to you

I think you'll find that AvB first ever gig in Ibiza was actually at Judgement Sundays years ago, Jules gave him his first gig out there. So he's already played for JS!

Well I sent an email to armin@astateoftrance.com I thought well I'll ask and see what happens. Surprisingly I got a swift response. Here is what it said:

Hey Paul,

Thanks for your mail. Rumours are not true. It's happening this year and
even more dates than last year! :)

Armin

Now it may, or may not, have been from the man himself. In fact it's highly unlikely that it was him who replied. But the bods at armada are telling me that the rumours are, in fact, not true.

I'm gonna listen to them ;-)

That is good news! Tbh I didn't see Amnesia letting Armada go- not now that Armin is officially world's number 1 DJ, even if the numbers were a bit patchy at times.

Now lets pray that they don't shut Amnesia down again!!!!

And that they don't put a hip hop night on in the terrace alongside Armada this season!! 8O

There'll undoubtedly be some scares along the way! But hopefully everything will run reasonably smoothly. Can't wait to get back on the island, and back to my favourite club! Roll on Summer '08! :D

ya I talked to Markus a bit after xmas time and he said that they are content with Armada night thus far

not sure how much they liked having oakie as a guest though haha

I'm not surprised! :evil:He's well had his day!! I really don't know why promoters continue to book him...

On the other hand I hope they continue with Nick Warren. I saw him 2 weeks ago supporting Ferry Corsten at the Arches in Glasgow and he was off the hook! :)

I was there too mate, Nick Warren was on top form .

Tell me about it! I was there last year for his guest spot and he was TERRIBLE!!!! He stood up there TALKING to people constantly...it's like he didn't care about what he was doing...not paying attention to the crowd and not doing a whole lot of mixing...just one record after another. I'll never waste money to see him again! Armin anytime though....

Must say I've never had the pleasure/displeasure of seeing Oakey live. Wish I could have back in the day. But I have heard a lot of his live stuff and read a lot of bad reports about his recent stuff. About him making a total fool of himself at Amnesia on the radio1 spot they did there 2 summers back. He's simply a man who is in it for the money these days. No other way to put it. I think he stopped caring about the music long ago.
