Wots everyone doing this year?

I'm not sure wot we're doing new years eve yet, but new years day we're going to Gatecrasher meets Sundissential in Brum.

We havent made any set plans yet, but looks like it will be a big party at mine then to Aberdeens street party for The Proclaimers  :P :P

After that all back to mine for a carry on through till New Years Night :P

Me and rachel are off to canvas for garnier, francois k, and 2manydjs. Got our tickets last night.

New Year Eve we will mostly be getting up to lots of pre-club minxiness, then heading to X Central for Garnier, Francois K, Faith DJs, 2ManyDJs etc and then carrying on thru-out New Years Day on a Cruise 8O  :D

Maybe go somewhere New Year Day night depending what's on as well.

I will probably end up doing nothing, being that I live in the most boring city on earth.. with absolutely no new years parties to even choose from!

so it will be better if I just sit and feel sorry for myself, while doign nothing :o

You lucky people who live in decent places!

Hate doing clubs in NYE. Just don't see the point .... just seems like any other saturday night. Although i did enjoy La Terraza in Barcelona 2 years ago.

Fancies going away somewhere but g/f can't get the time off work

So... we've booked into a brand new local 5* hotel and will most likely dine there too. Probably do a few bars first. 2 lots of couples are hoping to join us with adjoining rooms so could end up in carnage.

I see your point about clubs (though that's where I usually end up going), but I don't get the point of checking into a hotel somewhere near where you live. :? I suppose you could see it as pampering yourself, but my idea of pampering myself is dancing my socks of in a club

Up until 2000 clubs were blinding in this country on NYE, top line-ups, real extravagant shows etc, then in the Millennium loads of Promoters got their fingers burnt trying to charge £100 for tickets and a lot of UK clubs lost a lot of money and DJs were playing to half empty clubs on Millennium Eve. So for the following few years after that promoters tended to stick with smaller names/ressies for NYE but now we're seeing a bit of a turn around with them booking big DJs and making NYE more of a event but at the same time charging reasonable prices.

My biggest pet hate on NYE is bars, they charge you for the privilege of entering some poxy bar and you spend half the night queueing for a drink  Give me a few pre-clubbing drinks round at friends before the main event.

I was in London for the Millenium with a bunch of friends and we spent the evening sitting on top of medical waste dumpsters next to the hospital directly across the river from Big Ben. We were drinking beer and vodka and waiting in the drizzling rain for the "River of Fire", which never came. The fireworks were pretty cool though, and we saw the clock hit midnight on the world's most famous clock. I think I was the only one in our group who really enjoyed it, though :?

Afterwards, it took us 2 hours to get back to our hotel at Marble Arch through the mass of people on the streets (est. 3 million... supposedly the biggest street party ever).

My DJ brother in law and his girlfriend were in town too... I think they saw Basement Jaxx, et. al. at Fabric. Said they had a really good time.

We have to stay close because the g/f 'may' have to work on new years day. Yes, you heard me right there. If she does have to she'll probably be able to do an afternoon shift.

Were thinking of staying local New Years Eve, possibly just hop over to Revolution on Broad Street, even then i think we'll see the new year in and thats all really, no plans for an all nighter.

Sam, what time's this gatecrasher vs Sundissential thing on and how much?

Know what you mean, but there's lots of bars off the beaten track which put on some wicked NYE parties.

Anyway, i hate new year - christmas eve is more my thing. There's much more buzz in he air with xmas still to come and everyone in high spirits having finished work.

Taxis are an absolute nightmare however

Other way round for me - Christmas is family time, getting pissed and eating Christmas food on Christmas Eve etc, then New Years Eve/Day is friends and carnage time
