I see your point about clubs (though that's where I usually end up going), but I don't get the point of checking into a hotel somewhere near where you live.Drew said:Hate doing clubs in NYE. Just don't see the point .... just seems like any other saturday night. Although i did enjoy La Terraza in Barcelona 2 years ago.
Fancies going away somewhere but g/f can't get the time off work![]()
So... we've booked into a brand new local 5* hotel and will most likely dine there too. Probably do a few bars first. 2 lots of couples are hoping to join us with adjoining rooms so could end up in carnage.
I was in London for the Millenium with a bunch of friends and we spent the evening sitting on top of medical waste dumpsters next to the hospital directly across the river from Big Ben.Barbie said:Up until 2000 clubs were blinding in this country on NYE, top line-ups, real extravagant shows etc, then in the Millennium loads of Promoters got their fingers burnt trying to charge £100 for tickets and a lot of UK clubs lost a lot of money and DJs were playing to half empty clubs on Millennium Eve. So for the following few years after that promoters tended to stick with smaller names/ressies for NYE but now we're seeing a bit of a turn around with them booking big DJs and making NYE more of a event but at the same time charging reasonable prices.

Barbie said:My biggest pet hate on NYE is bars, they charge you for the privilege of entering some poxy bar and you spend half the night queueing for a drinkGive me a few pre-clubbing drinks round at friends before the main event.
Drew said:Anyway, i hate new year - christmas eve is more my thing. There's much more buzz in he air with xmas still to come and everyone in high spirits having finished work.
