New look Spotlight

hi nightfly,

i don't have the time to start really making big changes to the board, i would like to do this properly in october when things are quieter, until then though please comment about the news stories in the side

people with smaller screens might find this annoying, so please give feedback.
 
and why not put some non'clubbing' stories in da (vertical, yes please)box too.

y'never know, people might actually read them

and yes, finding someones posts easily was great, put it in the diary for october please (when you have finished spending all your time in space ;) )

Can't you search by author anyway?

I'm mainly on a small screen so leave as it is is my vote btw

bring back the sandy accidental look! was good!

box at the side will cause problems with photos posted in threads. photos that are too large already cause horizontal scrolling.

also, is there a reason for Usergroups re-appearing? :D

i have also taken off the rss graphics above (does anyone actually use the rss feeds?) which should mean less scrolling.
 
the rss graphics will disappear at the next scheduled update.

buckley and stuie - i hear ya - on a small screen the horizontal scrolling will be fairly annoying.

the reason the news is there, is because we still get the feeling many people visit the forums and forget there is a whole other site full of information waiting to be discovered.

does anyone have any other ideas about how we can keep people aware of the main site?
 
Sandy accidental look makes it look all washed out and messy. As every other post is yellow it clashes with these too and makes the forums really hard to scan/browse for me. The background needs to be a different colour from the foreground/posts themselves. White, as it was before was perfect.

I also view in a small window as i need to have half or dozen or so other windows open to moitor...so any sideways scrolling would be really annoying/irritating.
 
i have to say i agree with n8 there - it has been bugging me too.

i ahve reduced the number of stories to 2 and reduced spacing around them - hope that helps the vertical scrolling.

we'll reconvene in october to see about more widespread changes.

Vertical scrolling is infinitely preferable to horizontal scrolling so I say leave it as it is.

Another vote for bringing back the option of finding other people's posts :!:
