New look for San Jose's beaches

:o You mean theres no music in ibiza after the summer? :o

oh and stephen thats like saying tourists arent important to the island because their only there for 3 months of the year.

Anyway this is getting boring now. Were clearly not going to agree. People like me will just have to find somewhere else to hear good music while chilling on a beach, i know i know were all 'wrong uns'.

ha! the loud minority has a voice. why should i go out of my way to avoid a nuisance??

surely to goodness the most sensible way is if a few people want to make a noise which annoys everyone else - then they should go to some out of the way place where they can do whatever they want.

Stephen, if I remember correctly, this has been tried and the authorities do their best to shut them down. As a general rule, clubbers prefer to be with other clubbers. They're not out to ruin the pensioners' holidays.

Ibiza is facing the same problem as many other spanish coastal cities. The problem isn't clubbers, the problem is "low cost" tourism & "drunk" tourism. Are Pacha and Space to blame for Ibiza's "image problem" or is it drunk football hooligans fighting in the west end of San Antonio?

yes they are. ibiza's image all over the world is a hedonist paradise with loads of drugs, dance music and vegetarian food. a few nobheads having a scrap down the west end just ain't news anymore.

hmmm. the words silent majority and loud minority spring to mind here??

'quote unquote discuss' as my old professor of politics ralph miliband used to say..............

This quote's closer to Spiro Agnew than Ralph Miliband.

Well, I must admit, where I live we really don't get any news about Ibiza. So, if it wasn't for your posts, I would remain quite oblvious to this negative world opinion that you are referring to.

"There's going to be a new look on many of Ibiza's beaches this year courtesy of San Jose council. They've just introduced new rules which will apply during the bathing season which runs from May 1st until October 31st.

All staff working on the beaches – hiring sun-loungers, parasols and so on - will now have to wear a uniform. A pair of shorts, a yellow t-shirt and baseball cap will have the words 'Serveis Platja-Beach Services' emblazoned across them in big black capital letters.

Even better news for those who like to do a bit of sunbathing in peace and quiet is that the tranquillity of the majority is to be respected by banning the following activities: loud music, parties, ball games, animals and best of all the most annoying game in the world, Bat and Ball.

There will be special areas set aside for football, volleyball and so on, even special competitions, but these will be away from the sunbathing masses. The council are backing up the new rules with fines of up to €3000 and the presence of a beach watchman who'll make sure that they're observed"

DOES THIS MEAN BORA BORA WILL BE BANNED FROM PLAYING MUSIC AND HAVING PARTIES????

that only applies to PDB i hope...coz if i cant play volleyball in salinas with all my mates, i will burn the ayuntamiento in san jose! there has to be music while chillin on the beach! sorry stephen but you can actually go in the north to have some silence...

you're all very liberal aren't you?? me and my mates want to make a noise and if everyone else doesn't like it they can all go up north. worristhis? the 'neighbours from hell' message board?

Wow. And I bet this means the end of the topless Pacha beach girls then. >:-( Glad I went in 2005 and saw the last year of Bora Bora as we knew and loved it - the music pumping, half naked people dancing on tables, foam parties, sangrias with a thousand straws so that you could share them with the cute Italian boys - oh, those were the days!
And what summer is complete without Germans playing bat and ball on the beach?

The sky is falling! The sky is falling!

We'll all see what happens when June rolls around. As far as I can tell, this years club line ups look better than last year. I'm not buying into the death of Ibiza as a clubbing destination just yet....and if Bora Bora is quiet this year, we'll all just find some place else to go. It isn't the bar that makes the scene, it's the people.

Who evers out there for the opening parties will have to keep us informed on the Bora Bora situation, I hope to god theres music. Although i dont think i want to know if there isn't :(

... bothering people like me
who prefer to listen to the sound of the sea on the shore
and the breeze in the trees whilst 'chillin' on a beach.
poor stephen - does he already know that from this year on
there is no "listening to the sound of the sea on the shore" and
absolutely no "chillin on a beach" for him ?

why ? because he is probably always hanging out with marli ...

... and "the authorities" don´t allow
" to go with animals of any type
during the season of baths,
that for this year is set between May 1 and October 31." !
