New life in ibiza!!

Hey party people,,,

Quick update we have a offer on our place first time buyer, should be. 8 weeks completion due to high demand !!!

Had a meeting today I've had my request for redundancy accepted :) last day of work 28th march.

Just sold my van thank god, 2 more cars to sell plus all the crap inside the house...

We are getting there... Bring on the sun.

Yeah I don't envy you, well stressful. We found our house by contacting people on Owners Direct, its all holiday homes but what with it being quiet at the moment you might catch someone whos happy to do a year long let.

Recently secured a new place, broke my heart handing over a months rent to the agent! Some friends of ours came over and stayed in Nico apartments in SE until finding a place. It goes without saying it's far easier to find the right place once you are here. The prices for rentals vary so wildly for very similar properties, it's a bizare market place for sure.

Never rented before.

Got a bit of a bidding war going on with my gaff , on the market 1 year no luck now 3 buyers want it!!!

Anybody got any experience of selling uk cars on the island, do they sell ????

Ha thats another wierd thing. Rule used to be you could have it here for 6 months at a time max. however you can now go into town and pay a tax based on the value of the car which entitles you to keep it on UK plates. However my mate speaks fluent Spanish and found sorting his cars out painful.

People will buy UK cars but be prepared to hear endless blagging about how hard it is to keep a UK car and get some wanky offers as a result. On the flip side, you need a NIE to buy a car which is another ballache job so you have to drive your UK car here until you get all that sorted...

Cheers I swap my cars about every few months so hoping to sell them on or I'll just take them back to uk if it's a ball ache . I wonder how much the tax is??

Like I say depends on car age & value from what I was told. For example my mate has an old Jeep (92 I think, UK J) so that was €150 or something, but also has a new VW camper, the old style but newly built type, and thats going to be thousands.

Also, every time you buy and transfer a Spanish plated car, you now have to pay a tax based on emissions/engine size now, plus trafico fees, plus a gestoria if you can't be arsed to do it yourself.....

Hi All,

I have moved into an apartment Ibiza recently (from UK) and I'm so happy with the transition and all was translated in English for me. I checked with Spanish Legal at home and all was nice and precise ;) (You pay the months rent commission for a service (If you don't get that service - then you've been ripped off) In all honesty, I don't think I could have done this without the great help I received from these guys. Way above anything you'd get or expect in London.. Can't recommend enough…David from - Ibercasa Los Palacios. davidholderbach@gmail.com

Good luck
Suz

Moved out of our house today, back with parents for a week then I'm on the ferry to Santander sat morning. Nearly a year of planning So close now.

Amazing, rolling of that ferry will feel mint. You got viewings lined up?
I've got 5/6 people to meet for 1 thing or another , I'll get on to some agents this week , but I'm hoping to find some private landlords so I can dodge the admin tax !!! Got loads to do, need to find storage for my van any ideas?? Think I'll fly back the bring another car over next time.

Grab as many free papers as poss, I've been scouring the ads for stuff and loads of stuff in them at the mo.

Erm storage sure I've seen some people advertising on the FB groups. If you get really stuck we've got a bit drive

Ok we are 3 months in!!! All going good,
We got lucky with 2 months cheap rent in a 2 bed apartment , very cosy no air con but it was not needed as May was cool.
We then had the task of finding a new place to live from June the 1st ( do not look for long term rents in the summer!!! ) crazy prices. It was looking so bad we considered a caravan:(
After searches we found a 3 bed house no pool 1500e per month till October.
Great landlord no agency bollox just deposit and rent!
We have settled for Santa Eulalia as our home, due to the life in winter , will this change who knows. We have just signed up for a place from October till April 2015, this will give us enough time to buy.
Our son has just started summer school and loves it, 5 hours peace :))) in the morning is great.
I'm picking up work I have started a business call Ibiza transport , we transport goods from the uk to Ibiza all is good, my wife is working for smack Ibiza (very busy but loving it.)
Already we have made some friends, really nice genuine people who just love the island like us.
Been out a bit ;)
Do I miss the uk????????¿ not 1 bit!!
In 3 months we have watched the TV about 5 times !! I used to love it to relax now we have the beach, good times.

Congratulations Mart :) You made it in the end. Do you not feel a bit like "What was all the fuss about?"...When reflecting on the amount of planning upon planning for the move and when you finally do it you realize it's only moving house at the end of the day!

Sounds like you are well and truly settled and a sensible move being in Santa Eulalia to start with for the first winter at least.

You did well with the rental for the summer period, the agency / rentals thing is a nightmare.

We should meet for a beer sometime. Also, drop a pm with contact details for your transport offering, we are settled for a few years in a place and have stuff I would like to get from my sisters house in the uk to Ibiza.
