New iPod adds video support

True.... and it's definitely tempting...

but they had to screw it up by making it compatible with only 2 video formats (not including mpeg1, mpeg2, wmv)

Do you find it usefull?
I don't, with the photo one the same. When the ipod could be used to download pics from the camera then they will be the winners.

BTW, I bought last week the nano one for Pep's birthday. Now that's a beauty but I wouldn't feel too comfy cos it's so small and thin that I would be in permanent state of panic thinking I could damage it

I think it would be nice to have on the plane or other long trips.

My cell phone can show videos (any type.... not just quicktime and mpeg4 like the new iPod) but I haven't used it because i'm afraid of killing the battery before I get somewhere I can charge it. :?

I use my phone to listen to mp3s on short trips, but my iPod mini on longer trips (for the same reason).

I just looked and the new 30gb iPod costs $383 in the UK and $299 in the US :?

"Choose from over 2 million songs, 20,000 podcasts, 2,000 music videos or your favorite ABC and Disney television shows, download them to your Mac or PC and sync them to your iPod. Add an optional audio cable to play music from the iPod to your home stereo or use an optional S-video cable with iPod to play VJ on your TV."

Being able to watch my fave TV shows by synching with iTunes is very cool!

I got it from Pep's supplier, he bought a new Imac for his new assistant and we included the ipod.

In Barcelona the 4GB are sold out, best option is applestore.es, we are regular users and the service is excelent :D

You can already download many of them through bit torrent for free and play them on any personal media player.

I use iTunes, because it (or similar program) is the only way to get songs on my iPod mini, but I still haven't figured out what's so great about the program. OK, you can access the online store, but as a media organizer, it's actually pretty crappy. I find it much easier to just put each album in its own folder and use windows explorer to browse :?

You can do exactly the same, create folders for each album or as many lists you want and drop the files there :?

Ive got a portable media player, but this looks a lot less cumbersome than mine.

Looks good actually - I wouldnt touch it due to its lack of file type support. BOOOOOOO APPLE I HATE THEM - T'WHATS

its very user friendly on a Mac. you just need to play about to get the most out of it.... esp when organising music is concerned.

iTunes will go out and grab any podcasts that I subscribe to and automatically upload them to my ipod when it synchs so I can listen at my liesure. If the same was like that for TV shows, I would always have the latest episode to watch on my iPod no matter where I went. That's f*cking cool :D

I DETEST ITUNES WITH A PASSION

bundled unwittingly with Quicktime a while back. Messed up my registry, made my CD Drives Invisible, so meant i couldnt fix by putting in other programs. Lost net connection, eventually removed my harddrives and put them in a mates PC to format them.

I
HATE
APPLE

is this clear?

OK... then get a TV tuner for your computer and record the shows yourself with any of a hundred software packages. Then the shows are free and legal to copy for personal use.
