Nasas Next Trip To The Moon

OH. MY. GOD.

That is completely ridiculous. People are starving in Niger, yet we still need to go to the moon incase there is a huge load of cheese there, obviously.

Makes me very sick. :(

It is really frustrating isn't it.

To spend SOOO much on something like that when, like you say, there are so many starving people in the world. America even seemed struggled to help the victims of Katrina, in their own country, yet they are willing to spend this extortionate amount on this?

Silly buggers!

Over $1 billion has been raised privately to help victims and the government is now actually doing quite a good job after the initial screw-ups. It was a question of organization not money.

As for the moon, you have to remember that that sum is over 12 years so about $10b a year which isn't that much to be investing in space travel, to be honest.

Whilst I can see your point mate, the money could still be spent more wisely elsewhere.

I've gotta agree with the others. Thats a lot of money that could be put to better use elsewhere.

Well done NASA - about 30 years too late though

The whole project looks like a cut n shut using old parts and old technology.

So everyone is in agreement that a fair amount of moolah should be whacked in my account then?

That's the real problem, isn't it? I'm not opposed to spending $104b on space programs over 12 years (unlike all you Brits, who've never put a man on the moon  ). But when all you get for $104b is a rejigged Space Shuttle rocket with an updated Apollo capsule on it, you have to wonder why these guys can't come up with anything better after 40 years :?

Did anyone see that thing on tv ages ago that shown loads of flaws in the original moon landing video? 8O

I've seen stuff on that before. Does make you wonder a bit... especially having a camera out there at that angle in the first place.

Morbyd, I think one of the goals of this trip was to use existing technology (cost effective), and modify that to make it work for not only a lunar trip, but as well a manned mars mission.

Well, ya, I know. But you'd think we could come up with better technology rather than retread old stuff.
