Myths, legends and superstitions of Ibiza

A lot of people talk about the beaches, the people, the vibe, the clubbing of Ibiza. But for me, Ibiza wasn't only the fun, but a little mystical as well. The people you meet there and the way you feel about them is somehow transcendental.

I remember talking to a friend of mine who's been living in the island for the past 6 summers and he said "what is born in Ibiza lasts forever", meaning friendships, relationships etc.

Do any of you share this point of view? Do you have any interesting stories on this sense to tell about Ibiza and your lives?

"what is born in Ibiza lasts forever" is so beautiful. I like that better than, "What happens in Ibiza stays in Ibiza". What happens in Ibiza should be shared with the world!

I'd be really annoyed if what happens to me in Ibiza every year was shared with the world. Some things are best kept on the island!

"what is born in Ibiza lasts forever" is such a nice saying, me and my boyfriend met in Ibiza two years ago when we were repping out there and i hope our relationship lasts forever. :)

love that phrase conrado:D :D

must be true, cos i met my now wife out there in 2001, our first child was conceived out there and we were married there in 2004. we are also emigrating to live there permanently in 2008.

so ibiza has given me a wife and beautiful children and will be the perfect home for the rest of my life:D :D :D

Top phrase that, reminds me of a T-shirt i saw in pacha for sale saying
"No beginning, No end"

I have a very strange story....I spent an amazing 3 years in Ibiza living and working....however, I had an awful last 12 months with someone I was living with.....I now have a really strange feeling.....I really love Ibiza and have many good friends there.....however, I don´t feel that in the near future or maybe never I would ever return there due to my bad times in 2004.

Shame really as where I´m living now (Marbella) certainly doesnt compare with regards to how beautiful and amazing Ibiza is....but I know that I´m alot happier here. Does that make sense?!:? Its true though and maybe a little harsh to say but someone has ruined Ibiza for me and it will never be the same again.:(

perhaps you should return for a holiday to Ibiza... to get yourself back into the swing of it.

It's not fair that someone could trash your feelings for the island.

I say, get back out there, have a fab holiday and put the past behind you.

:D

Hey, I am a woman too and I told you: Go back, nobody has the right to destroy your feelings for this wonderful wonderful place called Isla-Blanca :)

oh lou lou lou, chiquita:cry: .

same thing sort of happened to a friend of mine, which left a bad taste in his mouth after years of working/living there. its the same for all of us, sometimes the emotions about ibiza are so intense, they can mess you up a little, especially if you're not actually there

when i got married there in 2004, he came cos he didn't want to miss my big day although he was reluctant about ibiza. after a few days he was back into the swing of things and couldn't believe he'd ever considered leaving ibiza alone for a while......................

my advice, go back with your closest friends as soon as you can and todo estará bien!;)

Likewise, I met my b/friend there 7 years ago this summer and we go back at least twice every year, we've already said that when we get married we're going to spend our honeymoon @ the Hacienda :D

Get married in Ibiza and keep the honeymoon for somewhere else ;)
I can picture you and Tom and all your guests (including me  ) dressed in white watching a perfect sunset and having a pink or two after the ceremony and before the reception ;) :D

The island sure is beautifull,
I love the place and have never regreted living here.
But have any of you been here this year, the island is turining into a "Motorway"
Im sure everyone has read or atleast heard about it, something has to be done!
There are concrete high rises to support the motorway of 30Metres, right infront of ibiza town, when you come from Sta Eularia!!!
No one wants this but there is nothing anyone can do, thats what it seems like anyway, just a few weeks ago now, there were riots, and protests with people lying infront of the bulldozers trying to stop them from bulldozing yet and other house!! Even though people are still living in the house and are standing there trying to stop them the workers just take their houses away from them right infront of their eyes,

Many people only ever revieved one letter to say that there will be a new road built and that they have a month to clear out their house and leave!!!! !!!!How can something lilke this happen!!!!

I am not trying to ruin your holiday, but if you have been here before and are expecting the same as last year or even the years before, get ready, it is not the same. And never will be again if something does not get done about this.

Thanks
Fred

We have in the "deutschsprachig Forum" a big thread about this. It`s called "Protest gegen Autobahnmafia immer grösser".

There are some articles and pictures written in english too.
