Myspace

It freaked me out also this morning. However, now I can see my page so that's cool. I am not sure if it was due to any power outage, although I would not be surprised if that were the case.
 
OK... maybe you guys can explain to me what you actually use MySpace for? :?

I find their forums and message boards inconvenient to use. I've customized my profile page and all that, but what's the point?

Help me out, here. I'm trying to understand this "phenomenon"

it's full of annoying 14 year olds too. I don't get myspace either - it's pretty rubbish. Hardly any of my 'real life friends' :lol: are on it either (in fact I think most of my friends are either from spotlight or are DJs), it's difficult to use, I can't be bothered to make a profile and I don't want to talk to all these freaky 18 year old gay boys that keep on messaging me 8O

I suppose it's good for networking or getting your message out there because if you have a lot of friends you can bulletin them all at the same time or invite them to an event and so promote yourself pretty easily.

Ah, right... so, if you get a lot of people to add you as a friend (an artist, for example), then you can use that bulletin function to send a note out to everyone. I guess that assumes people regularly check their home page (which I don't). Seems like I did get some Deep Dish announcement at some point.

Well, that's somewhat useful if you're an artist. What else can you do?
 
I use it and i like using it. I can see why folks don't and thats fair enough, but its handy for keeping in touch with certain people and if your a particular fan of certain dj's/artists its good to find out about new tracks etc.

the only thing that annoys me are all the rotten indie bands who keep trying to add me to become the next lily allen success story. i always give them a listen, but most are god awful.
 
I don't like how people who you are 'keeping in touch with' can/do use myspace to skew who they 'actually' are into whoever they want to be 'portraying' as who they are. Like an ugly girl fixing herself up all nice for a picture or finding the one picture that makes her look anything but completely hideous(and that is only a superficial aspect of people's skewed self-created personas) . It just seems dishonest and a complete waste of the 5 mins you spend every day to check it. Sorry for the rant:spank:
