My last trip to Ibiza 16-2 June 2003

Well this was my 6th visit to the island but the first in which I was in any fit state to see a lot of it. We hired a car this time and I would really recommend you do this as there are so many gorgeous beaches you can get to plus it just makes it easier to get around.

Monday 16th June

Didn't arrive til around 8.00. Found out we were staying at the Fiesta San Remo in San An Bay which was about 2 doors up from where we stayed this year. B/f was a bit annoyed about being in San an again but it didn't really matter as we had the car plus it's handy for the sunset strip etc. We had dinner at the hotel and then headed over to Mambos, had a couple of drinks there and then went to the Orange Corner for a jug of Sangria or 2. There weren't any clubs we fancied on Monday so we headed back rather merry around 1am and had an early night.

Tuesday 17th June

For our first beach of the holiday we drove to Cala Vedella which was south west of San An. This was a lovely sandy beach in a small family resort. We stayed here til lunchtime and then headed to Cala Carbo which was a fantastic small sand/shingle cove just a little further on. It was very pretty here and we stopped and had an amazing seafood Paella at the beachside restaurant (Can Vincent). That evening we were going to Underwater so we drove over to Ibiza town and headed down to the port area where we had a few drinks before going to Pacha. This was my first visit to Pacha and I couldn't believe what a beautiful club it was. Obviously I'd heard a lot about it but I was really impressed. I'm normally a trance girl through and through but I had a really good night here. Didn't enjoy Richard Scanty too much so spent the time he was on just wandering about the club. The main dancefloor was packed but we found a good spot upstairs. It was the first time I'd seen Fatboy Slim and I danced my arse off. Enjoyed Darren Emerson too but was getting a bit bored of him around 5.30 so headed off home.

Wednesday 18th June

Bit of a quiet day as I was a bit of a mong after last night. We headed off to Benirras today and it was a beautiful beach and not too busy. i spent most of the day just floating about on my lilo which was about all my head could deal with. We stayed in tonight. Last year I ended up missing Cream as I went on a bit of a bender on the Wednesday night  I wasn't going to make the same mistake again!

Thursday 19th June

Headed off in the car again this morning with the plan being to spend the day at Cala D'hort. We got there and the view of Es Vedra was spectacular, there is definately something strange and mystical about it. There was a load of kids around 13years at the beach running around and making a load of noise so we decided to head back to Cala Carbo (God I must be getting old!!!). Cala Carbo was definately my favorite of all the beaches we visited that week. After an early dinner at the hotel we headed out to pick up LagunaBeachCa before heading off to Coastline to meet Saffy and birthday boy Toffer. I was sitting enjoying a Vodka Limon when I saw what looked like a stripey sock attached to a bag. I went over and sure enough it was Saffy and hubby (which was a relief after me acosting randoms in Pacha and asking them if they were people who they weren't) We had a few Sangrias before Toffer turned up and we had a few more drinks with him before going to Amnesia.

Cream was a good night although I spent half the night looking for my pills which I thought I'd lost, only to find them where I'd hidden them at 5 am. Oakey played me a nice bit of trance but also PPK - Resurection which sounds awful now (I admit I did like it when it came out
l  )The ice cannon in Amnesia is just amazing :D :D :D . Tall Paul wasn't too bad but I've seen him better in the past.

Friday 20th June

Off to yet another beach. Today we went to Cala LLonga which was another family resort that had a really big sandy beach. In the evening we went to a seafood restaurant right at the far end of San Antonio Bay called Can Pujet (or something like that) The restaurant was fairly simple and next to the sea but it served delicious food and the views of the sunset were something else, it was very romantic. After the meal we headed down to Kumharas and had a really nice chilled evening drinking sangria. This was my first time at Kumharas but it had such a nice atmosphere and didn't seem so commercialised as the sunset strip has become. I would recommend it to anyone.

Saturday 21st June

Todays beach was Cala Vincent this was a nice sandy beach but it seemed to be windier here than at the other beaches we visited. In the afternoon we headed down to Bora Bora which was nice and busy before having dinner at the Club Playa D'en Bossa. the Fiesta hotels have a dine around programme and as we were originally going to stay at the Club we wanted to check it out. i was gutted that we had saved money by going on a deal as the Club Playa D'en Bossa was in a great location and had a lovely pool area and NO KIDS!! we will stay there when we go back. In the evening we went back to San An and went to the Orange Corner before heading over to Retro just after 2am. I had been looking forward to this night but there must have been about 30 people in Eden it was dead!! we didn't even stay and have our free drink. We decided to cut our losses and go home and get a good nights kip before heading off to Space on the Sunday.

Sunday 22 June

Headed over to Playa D'en Bossa around midday, had a Vodka limon at a bar across the road before heading into Space. Had several more vodka limons and got rather tipsy before using our pass out. We went and used the pool at one of the Fiesta hotels and had dinner there before going back over around 8pm. I've never enjoyed Space in the past but I have to say I had the time of my life last Sunday. On other visits I've gone out on the Saturday and just gone straight to Space and not been up for it so much. We stayed on the terrace til around 10.30 and then headed inside.

Sunday 22 June

The DJ who was on before James Zabeila  was pretty good. One of the highlights of my trip was hearing Fused - Terror as it's a bit of an anthem in the club we go to in Manchester. I was having such a good time when James Zabeila came on and spoilt it all. I'm sure he has great technical abilities but his choice of 'music' was boring as hell. We managed to catch the last tune on the terrace, Bassheads - Is There Anybody Out There before going back inside. I got chatting to some lads who informed me that Sasha had missed his flight so we called it a day just before 2 as I couldn't put up with anymore James Zabeila (and I would have danced to more or less anything!!)

Monday 23 June

Didn't do much today. Headed back to Playa D'en Bossa for our last few hours of sun before dropping the car off and flying home.

Obviously I've enjoyed every trip I've been on to Ibiza. This one wasn't as mad as some of the ones I've had in the past but I feel like I've seen a hell of a lot more and enjoyed the nights I've been to more.

Verdict less  is more !!! (never thought I'd say that)

Next year is too far away so I'm going to book this week and go back in september for the closing parties :D

Scottish Helen, just wondering what club you go to in Manchester???

my sentiments precisely, will be joining you :D

How could I have forgotten about the ice? Oh was that amazing. The instant chill factor! You review is helping me recover the lost memories. And I have only been back a week! I am so jealous of all you folks going to Closing parties. There is always next year, right??

Ah Helen! Was good to meet you! I accosted loads of men don't worry! (Anyone with a camera ... "Are you McRackin?") *chuckle*

Not going to the closing parties now but have got 2 weeks booked off work from June 26th next year. Nothing like planning ahead! :)

Yeah, it's true this year our group went a bit mad - which was fun and I guess something new in it's own way. But I really regret that it caused me to miss the other stuff I love like driving up north and being more chilled in the day. It's great to go to Ibiza on your own, so you can do whatever you like without having to keep a group of people happy.
