My humps

I like quite a lot of r&b. Which is perhaps strange because it's not marketed at 30+ white males.

About five years ago I got a bit bored with "chill out" and found myself gravitating to the more down beat "urban" music, about the same time that UK garage lost ground to r&b.

House and chill out collections seemed to me to be less sonically innovative compared to Missy Elliot/Timbaland, Pharrell Williams, Sugarbabes, Justin Timberlake, even Eminem and others.

Not to say there aren't plenty of examples of shite, but you could say that for any genre.

As for materialism, everybody wants to get paid. I'm fine with artists being upfront about their aspirations.
 
I'm not a fan of either genre (r&b or hip hop) but I think Missy Elliot is definitely an innovative artist. As for Eminem, it's all Dr Dre.
 
I like a smattering here and there

Eminem was excellent but its the same record again recently
Missy Elliott has done some excellent stuff
Kanye West's Golddigga was good


My Humps however is possibly one of the most ridiculous songs i have ever heard and Fergie is a haggard looking nonsense

She looks quite healthy to me.
 
1 minute she is hot, then you see her up close and not on stage (on the telly mind) and she looks boufing.

I have to disagree w/ you about Eminem. He actually brings a lot of talent and emotion to hip hop. He is an amazing freestyle rapper, and he is considered one of the better MC's (by his peers) at the present moment. I think he raps about some pretty dumb things, but he is a pop idol and he knows what his fans want to hear. I agree that Dre is one of the best ever hip hop producers.

Riiiiight...Dear god I fear for the youth of today buying stuff like this.

This is the worst crap I have ever heard in my life. I want to throw up, lick it back up, then throw up again until I start bleeding internally. I would do that just to avoid listening to that song ever again. Whenever I think of those lyrics I just want to slice all my flesh off and eat it, and then jump into a woodchipper. The lyrics are complete nonsense and it's the same thing OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER! AND OVER.... AND OVER... AND OVER AGAIN!!! It's just pure sh*t !!
