Music On

Hi Guys,
How busy does music on get?
I love amnesia and Marco but will avoid if it is too busy.
Is there room to dance on the terrace? We are going peak season - 14th August
Thanks

Ditto - looking forward to seeing how the Tale of Us nights work out at DC10, as that looks like the good alternative

Go to the main room till about 6, then hit the terrace and you should still see about 4 hours of marco and it should start getting slightly less crowded as it gets towards the morning...

Didn't read well your message, of course at 6am there will have more space

Carl Cox is the only one who's standing above Marco. Does it mean he'll play prime time/sunrise? Someone knows it from the last years?

i doubt id be into this music on, full of Italian posers glaring at birds all night, do they actually even enjoy themselves?

It's a good point. Sometimes wondered if some of them even know what music is playing. The most Italian time is end of August.

I really sit on the fence about whether a top-heavy "knowledgeable" crowd is a good thing or not.

I've been to industry events filled to the brim with people who work in electronic music biz which have been flat as a witch's tit. If you go to many a bar in Shoreditch you will find self-professed music aficionados standing around, not dancing, stroking their chin, checking their stop-watch to see if the DJ is beat-matching and berating how the DJ is playing records "I knew of 9 months ago". These ppl are proper vibe killers.

Equally I've been to raves where the ppl who just turn up for a good time and haven't got a clue about who's playing are the ones having the most fun - just letting loose and going with the flow.

I think for any great party, you need a healthy mix of both extremes - and of course the wide spectrum between them.

Music On isn't for everybody, granted. But it's a great party, no doubt.

No, i joke, i joke! But seriously, some of those hipster folk have disappeared so far up their own behind it wouldn't surprise me if I did see it!

HaHa I agree with what you are saying. As you may know I am a massive Jeff Mills fan, and while I have to stop myself from doing it, he always has a group of people just watching him work. What he does is amazing, but so many of the people aren't partying, they just watch, take mental notes and talk about how good he is!

ergh, ok.

What about Hyte? Is it getting busy but not too bad?

I went on the June 24th date. It was busy but not at all jam packed. I was mostly in the main room where Dettmann and Maceo Plex were my last sets on the island *tear*. I did check out the action in the terrace and it wasn't that bad either.

Maceo ended with Conjure Baleria and Sordid Affair if anybody wants to know. Maceo has still got it and although it was a stark contrast to Dettmann's pounding Berlin style techno, I still enjoyed it.

Would this be better than Circoloco?
Completely different type of party in terms of venue, bookings, and overall vibe in my opinion, can easily check out both music on - Friday, CircoLoco - Monday. In terms of choosing, I always ignore the party and go with who you enjoy musically, either one of these parties will be crowded so may as well pick what you'll enjoy listening to most.

I personally enjoy tunes from people like Tales of Us, Karmon or Maceo lately, I have the feeling Music On is more Techno? For example this one:

Where the hell can I listen to a good set like this one on the island?
