How was the opening? Anyone go? Never been, don't plan to go as I'm a cocoon head. Pictures look like carola had it rocking unlike vb on the terrace for cocoon opening...
 
Be good to know. I ended up in "Insane" on Friday, and not heard much from anyone on how the Music ON opening was....... Spotlight Review on its way?
 
no we didn't do the opening (else the review would have been online by Saturday night).
i've heard it was good. Music On is always about the Terrace so no wonder it was busy there (don't know about the main room though).
we'll head down there soon, wanna go and have a look myself in the next weeks.

Same, will try and check out when I am back out end of month. Though after the night I had at Insane last week, will be hard to not do that again.

Potential for DJ of the season would be my bet (though appreciate it is only June haha). His set at Ushuaia last Thursday left me absolutely stunned..... Amazing....
 
the after party at la plage was not a free for everyone event ie you needed a wrist band from the night before to get past the security on the beach unless you were sneaky or a hot girl. we enjoyed the sounds for a while from the beach...

He smashed it at Sonar I can tell you that much. Having a hard time deciding to go to his party at Ushuaia this week or the Ants party with MJC and Hot Since 82. Tough decision.

I think (my fault I know) we are mixing topics here, but YES Loco Dice Smashed it at Ushuaia last Thursday. The whole vibe was amazing, and I think there are a few reasons for this:

- Where as before Ushuaia parties never got going until later, I think the "daytime" element is very much back and things get going earlier. Giving out 20€ wrist bands before 4PM and 40€ before 6PM means you get the caners in there quite early. As I said, was surprised at just how up for it the crowd was early on!

- The "Used & Abused" "theme"is spot on in terms of it just feels a lot more edgy and down to Earth than any party I have done at Ushuaia.

- The production - the logo, the netting over the dancefloor, the smoke / lighting etc are really really good. As night falls the atmosphere gets even better. A mass of people / groupies on the stage

- No VIP section in front of the dancefloor! The dancefloor was all the way the the pool. Was brilliant.

- Last but not least - Loco Dice himself just being fre__king amazing.....



It feels more like a bunch of tech heads taking over a hotel as opposed to a 5* hotel hosting a Loco Dice gig....

Interesting......... Is this going to be a constant note for the season not having the VIP area in front of the DJ Booth? Reasons why i'm done with Ushuaia unless this goes as it's passion killer...

I have no insider facts here (so just my gut feel), but it does feel that for the let's just pose and be seen crowd "The Tower" is made for them. Whereas The Club **may** be a lot more about packing the more up for it punters in with less VIP on the dacefloor! It may just be an early season thing (and maybe just a Used & Abused thing), but this was the case last week.

I think Ushuaia have a perfect mix with the Tower and Club now.....

And MAN when ENTER. opens the combination of Used and Abused and ENTER. is going to be absolutely amazing...... There will be some absolute states come 7AM Friday morning haha! As close to the old Sunday's in terms of party time as you can get.......

The VIP bit seemed to be on the right hand side if your looking at the stage and seemed kinda empty.party was off the scale! Dubfire did his usual predictable thing but it worked well getting it going at that time. I've never ever seen so many hot girls in one place in my entire life!

haha there were some VERY hot girls there! And hot in an "up for it way" ......

I honestly wasn't going to try Ushuaia this year but if the VIP bit in the middle that wasn't there two years ago or in a different area has truly gone I will give Loco Dice a try! With Enter to follow.

One of the more noticeable trends on the island this year is that all the big DJs are playing each others parties. However, aside from for Carl Cox in July, you're sticking with Music On. Was this a conscious decision?

This is complicated. Last year was a very difficult year for me. I was starting a new project and as a lot of the bigger DJs were already tied in with other promoters and other parties, I found that the only people that were behind me were Amnesia. As a result, this year I feel that they are the real priority and I have to show solidarity. Of course it would be fun to play for everyone but I feel the most important thing is that I support the club, given the way they supported me last year. In the future I'm sure there will be plenty of collaborations, but for the moment I'm sticking by Amnesia. That said, I'm also playing for CircoLoco at DC-10 towards the end of the summer.


:) Never seen carola play at dc10 so might have to go for this one
