Music capitals

East London's nightlife is currently being battered by Boris, property developers and councils, but it is STILL light years ahead of anywhere else in the UK for music. That's why rents in hackney have gone up 879% in 5 yrs

Errr... what now? If you're on about Shoreditch, Hackney, and Dalston...
Then they are the core of the UK deep house chin stroking scene but that's about it.

It's not 'light years' for any other genre.

Surprised nowhere in Mexico and the likes of Tel Aviv and San Francisco missed out. Suppose it's pretty subjective...
Agreed on Tel Aviv. I'd rank that way above Bucharest (having partied in both)

Stoked that I've been to 14 of 20, although can't say I found the party in every one.

No sign of Zurich. Home of the streetparade!

I'm sure someone can direct me to a thriving psychedelic hardsashadigweedstep scene in grimsby or whatever but that's never really going to be where it's at is it? Students, designers, techies, startups, beards, dealers, art/fashion crowd all move to south/east london from all over the world for the same reasons. And loads of them love House. The only other player in Europe is Berlin. It's not arrogance, it's reality. The question now though is how the economics/politics will affect things. If those guys are priced out and can't even afford zone 6, then maybe the scene will atomise and music crowd will head elsewhere. Nobody knows right now where this is all heading
