Looks like I'll be swinging through Dubai on a layover in September... might switch my ticket to have a day to look around. What do you think? Plenty to do on a Saturday in your city?

We're still considering Dubai actually.

Although i'm a little put off these arab places at the moment, especially after the shocking news of Sharm el Sheik this morning

Some friends of ours just returned from there too.

Half of Russia vacations in Sharm el Sheik (the half that's not in Antalia, Turkey) because of the cheap tours... hope no one I know was down there 8O

Dubai is a lot different, as I'm sure you know. It's Arab but very progressive. Plus, I've got to fly through there to get to South Africa... I could go through Europe, but that seems like it'd be flying out of the way to me.

Dubai has a different flavor than the other arab party cities... u will have a great time ;)

keep in mind, ur going to Dubai, NOT ibiza ;)

when in Sept. are you coming Morbyd?? there will be lots of parties going on, the one i know for sure thats gona happen is

Wow... looks fascinating.

I'd probably do the extended layover on my way home, so I'd be arriving on the 30th, I think. I guess Oct. 1 would be my only full day.

Would love to work there. Was very young when I lived there between 1984 and 1989, but still have great memories of it all. There was only two or three golf courses when I lived there..how things change.

Remember going to a place called DPC (Dubai Petroleum Club) to chill at the pool...that still there?
