After visiting Barcelona, me and my boyfriend have decided that we want to move there. This is the plan:
1. Finish my degree, get a TEFL certificate and establish myself initially as an English teacher. Then either work freelance as a private tutor or get a proper job (when my Spanish is up to scratch!!). Teaching jobs I have checked out list wages as €1000 - €1200 per month. Is this reasonable to live in Barcelona? - I realise it is very expensive!
2. Boyfriend is planning to learn Spanish at the Institutio Cerventas over the next 18 months then get a job in a bar or similar - what kind of wages would he be looking at per month fo bar work? He will obviously looking at getting a better job ASAP but you have to start somewhere!!
3. We want to live around L'Eixample or Ciutat Vella areas - we have checked out http://www.shbarcelona.com and the accomodation seems pretty reasonable - would this type of agency be the best way to go or would the local papers be better?
Finally - are we being realistic or is this all just a pipe dream???? As much info as possible if thats OK - what are utility costs etc like?!?? Could we survive on these wages?????
Thanks Guys x
