ok as expected, quietest mosaic of the season so far last night because of coxy opening. it wasn't dead thought so I am positive for the rest of mosaic's season - next week will already be busier again I'm sure as the island gets busier. next two to three tuesdays won't be overly busy I think but come july I would think it should definitely be pretty busy again!

maybe the after party at Tox, were better than the party at Pacha

They were giving bands out on the dance floor at the end of the night last week. Shouldn't be too much of a problem to get one.

I just got back from the Ellum party in barcelona (off sonar), after not seeing Maceo play live for about 2 years, and wow, that was just so bad... it felt like he just put in 2 usb drives, pressed shuffle, and mixed whatever he got. He barely looked at crowd, so he didn't notice or care that no one was with him. After seeing this display, I can't believe he just got a Pacha residency that he is trying to promote. He did play some good tracks, but really, no connection between them, zero vibe, and zero "story" to tell. I planned on doing Mosaic, either at sonar or pacha, but definetly skipping it now.
That's pretty strange. He usually vibes with the crowd nicely. Hmm.

He was fantastic at Primavera in Barcelona two weeks ago and actually far exceeded my expectations. Even people I was with who are more into bands really enjoyed it and everyone was going for it. He seemed to be having a great time too and there was a really nice vibe. Suppose anyone can have off days though?

This is following the usual cycle of events when a DJ like Maceo gets their own residency. All of a sudden its like they become "establishment" and people become more polarised on their opinions of them, and are looking for reasons to say they "aren't what they were" etc. Happened with Luciano, Solomun, Richie, Jamie Jones etc etc....

That's not really the case here, as I said, I haven't seen him in a long time, and not really comparing him to what he was before, just to how he was on the one time i've seen him now.
I suppose what happens when DJs like him get residencies, is not that people's opinions that change, It's that they start playing more, because they still keep touring, so more people hear them, and they sometimes start spreading themself too thin.
I think Solomun is actually a great example of someone who seems too handle an insane amount of gigs, and still always play top sets.
he is also much more versitile as a DJ, which probably helps keep thing fresh for both himself and the crowd.

plex is consistently inconsistent. saw him twice last season. his set at hyte was fantastic, his set at enter was just like kfir described :/
but then again who is consistently good at his job every day? these guys just have to play, whether they have the flu, a loved one in hospital or a quarrel with their partner. cut him some slack.

I thought he was good at Hyte last year as well (even though he didn't bother continuing off from the faster vibe that Dettmann created before him, but I think most DJs don't). It's a bit surprising to hear him getting bad reviews. I've seen him live twice now and he's been good

We are all big fan of maceo but atm he's not playing same music as before so I will give a pass and go for another party
At sonar week there are a lot of parties everyday so you are not in the condition of

I'm doing the opposite and choosing Solomun and Adriatique on the Sunday over Plex on the Tuesday. Genuinely a hard decision as I've seen Maceo a few times and he's been amazing, but with some less than praising recent reports vs the reliability of Adriatique, I think the Sunday is the safer pick.....not to mention the Wednesday morning flight home and potentially empty tank after DC10 / Cocoon!!!
