more Electro in 2008

talking of electro (clash!)... Goldfrapp's and Miss Kittin's new LPs are jolly good indeed

If it's a Tune it's Tune.

I have a gig on the 1st Feb @ a local club in Aberdeen (Scotland). The night is usually Hard House/Hard Trance but this time they have decided to have an open decks night in the backroom where I'll play.

I've being thinking about what to play and started thinking I would play a Psy Trance set and sorted out my tunes.

Then I had a brainwave!!!!!!!!!!!

Lets just play everything and anything. My set will therefore consist of everything from Hi-Tack's "Say Say Say" and the D.O.N.S mix of "Everywhere" to Shove's "The Main Idea" and everything in between. Will throw in a couple of mashed up classic's like Ian Careys mix of Utah Saints "Something Good" and IMHOOF feat TYLENE "Such A Good Feeling"

I call this genre, "genreless"

Big question is. Can I make it work?



p.s Sorry I don't think my set will have much Electro, if any
 
I agree with other about judging on how it sounds rather than genre but on the other hand if a DJ didnt specify a certain genre I wouldnt go and see him!! I love house but not so keen on trance, if I though the DJ would mash it up i'd opt out but that's just me 8)
 
lol another non sense thread! Why not let everybody have the choice of what they wanna hear? Guys if you dont like Mnml tek then dont go to Mnml parties, if you dont like trance dont go to trance parties and so on...

simple as that!

MO i think it s very nice to have a choice! Dont tell me everything was Electro or Minimal last year. you had the choice, just select your parties by the line up.
 
Well, its a forum so people have the right to bitch and moan about stuff but I do agree that one mans music is another mans noise etc. However, IMO in 2007 a lot of producers tried to jump on this electro sound bandwagon all making very similar sounding songs which were rinsed out in every club getting very tiresome for a lot of people.

I am just hoping 2008 is not the same.

its nothing more than a fad. Fedde le Grand has killed it, so if you're planning a night this summer that is electro mate, you're gonna land on your arse cos its been and gone...

unfortunately sarcasm never works on boards ... i tried it so many times lol

on a serious note i hope theres less electo, i love minimal and dark deep techno too but so many night cater that... hoping bring back some funky jacking fun stuff thats what we are all there for after all... fun!!

looking foward to whatever tunes 08 brings us hopefully back to the monsters of 06 8O (not being sarcastic!)
