prediction tonight 0-0

Morby, it was so clearly going to be 0-0 that my prediciton last night isn't really worth anything.

before the game, i wasn't bothered if we came 1st or 2nd and i still don't think it makes that much difference. i mean we could still draw real madrid, juventus, bayern munich but on the flip side we could get a relatively easier one with rangers, ajax, psv, udinese or anyone other than man utd in that group.

from 1st its a slightly more difficult proposition with barcelona, munich/juve, inter, milan, lyon but likewise you could end with an easy one from man utd's group.

i suppose you fancy your chances against anyone though.....(don't blame you either) - biggest dissapointment for me chelsea-wise is:

1 - robben's form, last year was a breath of fresh air but since he missed back end of last year he looks so much less of a player
2 - SWP, this guy is the future of world football, should be a first XI regular without doubt (especially with robben's form)

Totally agree. 0-0 was always in the offing.

I guess held out hope we'd have one lucky set play with a Terry header or something, but alas - it was not meant to be

At this level, any team you draw is going to be difficult... teams like PSV are entirely as dangerous as Juve.

Robben has been disappointing ever since Blackburn mauled him last winter. He showed a couple of flashes of brilliance against Middlesbrough on the weekend (one memorable run took him around 4 defenders 8O ) but was invisible last night aside from that one close shot.

SWP is an amazing talent, but it's still a bit raw for this level. Eventually, he'll be a first team regular, I'm sure. We are definitely deep in wide players with those two, Duff and Joe Cole. Deeper than at any other position.

think SWP should play every week, him and duff for me. agree that you have a few wide options (4 class players really). i bet you'd swop one of them for a shevchenko or eto'o. i thought crespo could be that 20 goal a season man but jose really likes drogba in that system (still too hit and miss for me - if you want to really dominate england and europe for next 10 years, i think you need a world class striker, for me drogba, as good as he is, is not that)

The problem with Drogba is, when you're just about to write him off as a waste of space after a couple of shockingly bad performances, he'll pull one game out of his hat that is just amazing. He's the most frustrating player ever.

Crespo was looking awesome until he picked up that knock against Anderlecht. Sad timing.

I think being 1st does count significantly. Yes in Juves Group 1st and 2nd are more or less equal, but in all the rest (including Reals) the team that won it did so becuase they are better than the 2nd place team. In some cases FAR better than 2nd placed team.

This aside from the fact having the second leg at home is also a factor

I for one am very pleased we came 1st, Bring on Chelsea!!!! ;)

ps: Essien should be banned for a couple of games at the very least.
