Sorry, I read it back and it made me sound like a sour faced twat. At the end of the day if I did everything I wanted to do, I'd never see half the things I do.
That, and I can't think of a good excuse that I could use to get out of it.
For the benefit of the tape:
Situation 1) Just got wind that an old friend (he's the son of my M&D's very good friends, have known him for as long as I have had a memory, nice enough chap, though I don't really see him (or her) unless it's a 'family getogether (is that all one word?)) is having his stag do in Hamburg (well, the best man has chosen it I think).
We fly out on a friday, and back on the Sunday. Flights and accomo is going to cost £250, and there will be more on top of that spending money etc, and there's talk of going to watch Hamburg play (the football team).
Now, aside from the question I know that is running through all of your minds right now (why the hell would anyone choose to go to Hamburg? Aside from being a massive fan of the local delicacy, I'm honestly stuck?).
I don't want to go.
It's not the money as such, only they're getting married overseas too (in Cyprus. The dodgy side IIRC) (selfish sods getting married overseas, I mean, who does that these days?!

). And it all seems like they've expected us to shell out a lot for their do. TBH I think it'll piss my M&D off more if I don't go, as the 'rents of the groom have been very good friends to my family, and they attended my bro's wedding a few years back, and wouldn;t even blink of the deal was the other way around.
I will probably enjoy myself if I do go, though it's really not my scene, and certainly not to the tune of £5 or 600 (yes, i know it's not a lot, though I can just think of bettr ways of spending it), especially when I have their wedding to shell out for the following month (though will get to wear the beige suit, so not all bad...).
The decision is as thus: Am I being moody for not wanting to go on a standard lads piss up weekend with people I know but don't make an effort to spend time with normally (i.e. not particulalry close acquaintances)?
Or if anyone wants to sell Hamburg to me, they're more than welcome.
(Apologies to any, erm, Hamburgers amongst us, this isn't an exercise in criticising your home town, it just doesn't have any redeeming features that appeal to a simpleton like me

)
