meganite residents

Thats very interesting, i have a feeling this years Meganite will have a much more minimal sound than previous, last year Picotto's sets were very minimal influenced, then Liebing came on to bring things up a bit, but what with Corola this year, ive not know him to go hard in his sets, last year his set(s) were very minimal....

I think the guest dj's will show where Meganite is going with there music policy this year..

Not sure if Ibiza (and the World !) is in danger of minimal-overload.
It sneaked into sets at We Love, is the main style of DC10 and Cocoon on a Monday, some at Carl Cox on a Tuesday and now potentially Meganite.
I like a lot of it (and play some of it), when you're in the right setting and frame of mind ( ), but some of it is total mince.

you're totally rigth, stu. some minimal is cool...i mean, really cool. but i also hope, not everything is going completely minimal ;)

was also surprised by marco carola's last set's and productions. when i saw him back at cocoon july 2004 he played a proper banging techno set. his productions i've heard recently are proper minimal...

same thing goes for marco bailey btw!

Chirs Liebing's latest set which was recorded some time in January 2006 was very minimal influenced, seems everyones going minimal...

its like any kind of genre though isn't it, creeps into the mainstream then bang everyones doing it. keep waiting for a MOS HUGE CLICKS WHIRRS AND BLEEPS album. I do like minimal, but im a bit minimaled out my nut at the minute.

true. minimal gets maximal right now. but as long as all other styles remain, i'm happy. i like some minimal, but i also still like quite every other sub-style of house and techno music. and of course i still love some trance every now and then ;)

...its ok to listen to for background but not to dance to!!

8O man you need to see the likes of Magda, Rayan Crosson, John Gaiser etc

You'll wanna dance allright! ;)

i heard far too much of it in ibz last sept and personally, im not so keen.

nah.. i've done my dancing to minimal..... I really miss REAL techno.. can't wait to see who's playing when this year... but will be really disappointing if everyone turns into this minimal crap..

Certainly don't want to bring back the fluffy trance.. but the very least bring back some real techno...I'm suffocating here!!

BAD move for dropping Liebing as a resident for Carola!

Carola's music is great, don't get me wrong, but so was Liebing's!

Plus Liebing has this extra advantage of actually connecting with the croud and not stare into the decks all the time with no eye connection like Carola does

agree ...if anyone is going to be dropped, it should be picotto over liebing!

Cocoon wasn't too minimal on the nights I was there last year... hawtin a bit on aug 29..but sven vath a week later was fantastic.if Cocoon turns minimally i will cry:cry:

Meganite needs to do something though.. I felt like I was waiting for the night to get going and by the time Adam beyer came on I was too tired..

meganite doesn't offer anything in the way of atmosphere.. When I saw Adam beyer a few years ago (2003) at global gathering he was great.. but not to excited by him last year at meganite.

Hopefully Ben Sims is still invited and hasn't turned to the 'dark'side as everyone else has in that minimal world!

Meganite returns to Gallery at Turnmills, London on Friday 24th February. Lineup features Ibiza residents Mauro Picotto and Marco Carola

maybe they just meant that carola were also a resident of meganite - the same as liebing, huh?

from the Meganite forum

confirms that the 7th june is the opening date
residents are Marco Carola & Misstress Barbara (i assume Picotto too as its his baby?)
Liebling has been asked to do some dates which he is mulling over

I'd have to say I disagree with you there. I'm not much of a fan of the harder end of techno, but everybody else there was loving it the nights I went.

Fair enough, its good to go to a variety of nights and I enjoyed it last year, but enjoyed the atmosphere at the other nights waaay more

Me too actually. Meganite's ok but Cocoon was much more fun.
