Mauro Picotto @ Meganite - Style of music?

Hey,

Going to Ibiza on the 15th - Looking at the party calendar I quite fancy going to see Mauro Picotto @ Privilege. I've never seen Picotto live - and ive only heard a couple of his sets, but these were from a couple of years ago, when he was playing that really underground trance (like his tracks Baguette or Its like this its like that). I like that kind of stuff. But a friend recently told me that he plays techno now? Which I would find completely boring!.

So am i going to be disappointed by going to see Picotto?
 
Saw him play at the Meganite Launch party in London last month, and he was anything but boring.
He played more of an electro set rather than techno. It WAS a boat party though, so he may play a bit harder on the night itself.
 
Meganite is definitely Techno, but Picotto cannot be ascribed as boring. I am not a Techno fan, but saw Leibing back in the States prior to my move to Ibiza. It was fan-f***ing-tastic. Rough and raw. Definitely took me a while to get comfortable with it, but once I did it was such a release. I'm all too excited to see what they'll bring to Privilege
 
meganite is a lot more techno that what picotto was doing a few years ago.

went to this last year and it was a great night. privelige does look weird when its downsized, cool though.

good night and would def recommend (if your a techno fan).
 
I would describe meganite as banging ! its not just techno he plays though. he plays anything that fits into the sound not into a perticular genra.

If you like picotto back when he was doing godskitchen @amnesia when he played hard trance then you will like him now. He is not to be missed IMO.
 
I went to Meganite last year, along with the 13 others I was on holiday with. We are all big house and trance fans, and really only myself and 2 others had a good night at Meganite, but I would go as far as to say it was equal top night for me, and we did all of the big trance nights (Cream, Judgement, etc).

Picotto I wasnt so impressed with. He played some of the weirdest breakdowns Ive ever heard in my life, ones that literally went on for 2 or 3 minutes at a time. He does have the coolest headphones in the history of DJing though - they are glow in the dark!!!! However, Chris Liebing was the absolute nuts! Played one of the best sets Ive ever heard. He dropped Murder Was The Bass in really early and that got the whole place going crazy. So really looking forward to seeing him this year again.

Another thing I would say about Meganite is the superb international atmosphere in there, literally people from all over the world, and not a beer boy or football shirt in sight.
 
the man is quility, and meganight is a def just for the experience. but ur right he does play the some strange breakdowns. last year one breakdown got so quiet picotto got everyone sat on the floor and then as it kicked in everyone jumped up and went crazy. never seen anything like it. very intence gig i must say! Dan

I went once last year and it was plenty busy. Admittedly they close off the back half of the club, but that works well IMO.
 
certainly classed as a techno night, mauro´s sets can be very diverse tho, only recently he was midway through a tough electro sound and he dropped the fuzzy hair remix of david guettas - stay, was at about 138 bpm, i personally wasnt feeling it.

Chris liebing sets are very tough, tough techno but not schranz!

Guests this summer are techno djs, so if you was to hear some electro, it would be from picotto.

The opening is tomorrow night, proving to be alot of positive talk about the night, great to see it bk for another season.

I'm not sure if my presence would honour anything. Lower the tone more likely ;)

Anyway, I was there and it was very good.

wat a load of crap, how can u call picotto cheese? hes anything but cheese
 
how can ya say there not...pure cheesy techno...when i went to meagnite last year for the closin party picotto was just cheese on toast...he played call on me as his first tune :oops: cringe and he played his wank tune "M A U R O P I C O T T O" 200% cheese on toast and liebing pur cheesey bangin techno zzzzzzzzzzzzzz then young ben sims came and showed them up :D thats techno imo :D :D
 
i guess call on me is pushing it but still the man is mint. but then again im not a big techno lover so have no opinion!
 
Didn't make it to meganite last year so was determind to get the opening party this year. Wow!! Top night!! Arrived just as Mauro was taking over and after seeing him at Itaca for the pre party was well ready for the party!! More a trance girl but atmosphere and music was fantasic and it was alot busier than expected! Certainly worth a visit
