Manumission?!?!

Whats it really like, and what sort of music is played in there? could you really class it as a realy club night of is it just a freek show? Can any one help?:?:
 
I went to the opening last year and apparantly it was a lot tamer then it used to be.

I didnt see many freaks, saw some unusual people like dwarfs and transvestites but nothing like I had been told about, s*x shows and the like.

Its just one big club night I thought!
 
pretty sure they haven't done the sex shows since around 1996.

i describe to people it as 'circ du solei' on acid. if you've never been its a spectacle and worth checking out IMO...musically they've been getting into some indie bands playing along with DJs. Their policy has been the party is the main attraction - not whose spinning. many times they don't announce the djs and you walk in and see Fatboy Slim playing.

it is a proper club night, it just has a history of doing things differently, putting a show on. the best time for pure clubbing experience is from about 4am onwards.

sex shows stopped in 2000 i think.

the music is generally quite tough house music in the main room, funkier/eclectic/balearic in the coco loco, live acts too.

depends on the DJ, in the past you could hear trance, hard house, prog, funky house, electro, minimal...........anything really. just find a room you like and stay there.
 
but is the closing party 21st as per priv site and spotlight or 28th as per manu site and ibiza voice
 
i havnt been to manumission since 2002, and i have to say i havnt really missed going to it. it depends what ur into. although i stay in san antonio when i go (purely cos of the sunset strip) i tend to try and stay away from the 18-30's club hangouts like eden, es paradis, and also privilege on manumission nites has the tendancy to have alot of people who are not really interested in the club as a whole, just there to get plastered, they tend to disappear around 3am though and then you are left with the true ibiza clubbers who can hack the pace unil kick out. as i said the last time i was there fatboy slim was playing along with the legend that is alfredo and it was really a good nite, its wicked to see the sun beam straight through the big glass windows at 7am whilst dancing your 'ass' off to some wicked sounds.

if you have never been before, think big aircraft hanger, think crazy people, think a maze, think lights like you have never seen before, and expect the unexpected.
 
manumission is one of those nights that you always tell people - "you have to go once" - if you like it go again but you have to go

mike & claire stopped the "sex shows" around 1997 - privilege is just one of those places you just have to go to and arguably the 2 brothers have kept privilege alive

they reinvent manumission every year - its hard to argue against what they do
 
btw - when mtv got ****ed over and had basically a week to relocate it was privilege who accommodated them..

some people have short memories
