Manumission moves to Amnesia on Fridays

i remember my first manu in 1996(97?)...it was incredible, because it was fresh, but now,pfffff.....just another big machine...

my first was 98 but haven't been for a few years

it would argue that far from being a machine - Manumission continue to be innovaters on the island

Ibiza Rocks
new show & concept every year
reluctance to book huge name djs in recent years
never relying on the DJ name to sell tickets

was planning on going to made in italy this year for the first time, but its gonna be absolutely rammed now. not necessarilly a bad thing that manumission will be on the terrace as it will mean more diversity in terms of music (im going for steve lawler @ MII and i think tom middleton was scheduled to be playing at manumission that night, so hopefully he still is), but its just gonna make the place horribly busy imo.

I agree completely with our friend Macdonsj here - instead of looking at this as the end, maybe we should look at it as just morphing into a new clubbing experience.Made in Italy to move to Sundays ?

also, correct me if im wrong, but i thought made in italy was a reasonably cheap night (ive never been before, its just the impression i got), and manumission is normally 50euros+, so are they gonna bump up the price of MII tickets??

Hope it's only temporary. We'll be out there for manumission closing party and haven't been before. I was also planning on going to Cream closing party and now they're going to be in the same place! Wanna go to more than one club! x

whats going to happen with the djs that were supposed to play the terrace in the first place, are they struck off the bill altogether?:(

Privilege holds 10,000, with Manumission taking 100% of ticket sales. Amnesia holds (as far as I know) 8,000 and since there is another promoter on in one of the rooms that would seem to imply Manumission can hope for a maximum of 50%... doesn't seem to add up. I've only been to Amnesia once and didn't spend that much time on the terrace, but I certainly don't recall there being a stage, so if they need to build one that will reduce their capacity even further. Add to that the loss of Sleazeville and La Chatte Agile and the fact that you won't be able to watch the sunrise and Manumission suddenly sounds a lot less appealing.

Nah Amnesia is near 5000 than 8000.

It's a shame really, Manumission was what it was because of privilege's size. It allowed Manumission to put on a real show and now Manumission is merely generic club night 7489.

I've heard from friends out in Ibiza currently that Manumission and Privilege have fallen out over Mike and Andy promoting Manumission more than the club its self :o Doesn't the owners of privilege know that's their job? Isn't 10k+ people through the door every week enough advertising for them?

I hope they find a solution, because both Manumission and Privilege will suffer if they don't

Privilege totally screwed themselves with this situation, in my opinion. Manumission can find another club... what is Privilege going to do to replace that legend? All they have now is Meganite as the big night, no?? And I agree with pjking... it's the club night's job to promote their night, not the club.

End of Privilige

Privilege's huge party's is SOURCE to the AUTOPISTA destorsion of the island.
Also AMNESIA is debet on this. Same point.
This is a fact.
Ibiza business is killing it's own business.
As a snake eating its own tow.
It is very stupid.
Ibiza is gone.

AT 2AM ON FRIDAY THE 10 TH OF AUGUST MANUMISSION
SENT THE FOLLOWING PRESS RELEASE...:

"After 14 years of Manumission in Privilege (or initially KU)
we have moved to Amnesia.

Whilst this is not something we would have chosen to do mid season,
we are delighted with the change, and feel that it is in the best interests
of our customers, our staff and our party.
It is widely known that we have had a turbulent history with Privilege
and last Friday they took the decision to keep the venue closed.
This resulted in many thousands of people who had bought tickets
being turned away for no reason.

Under those circumstances we acted as responsibly as we could,
and by now everyone should have received a full refund
from the place of purchase.

Manumission has built its name on creativity and innovation,
and now all this energy will be invested in the REOPENING of MANUMISSION
this Friday 10th August at Amnesia,
which is sure to go down as one of the events of the decade.

We are most grateful to our friends at Amnesia, and Made In Italy
for their invitation to join them on Fridays.

We now have a venue that is working along side us
and we look forward to the future."

i dont understand what you mean olivier, can you clarify your point a little?

I've never been to Manumission, nor ever intended to go, but i cant see it working anywhere else but Privilege. You are right, it just becomes another club night, privilege is what made manumission so special for so many people. I think privilege have shot themslves in the foot with this one.

I like this. At least there is a Manumission party still going on ppl. It's better than not having one at all???? 8O That would be a crime. Sure it won't be the same, but in true Ibiza fashion things change, and it should be welcomed. Plus, it may just be until the end of this season. The Privelege club owners and Manu promoters may come on good terms again once the trife is stifled (ie paying this fine), and things will be back to normal for '08. We can only hope. In the meantime just enjoy the parties :spank:

Ibiza is still alive and kickin'! ;)
