i'm not dictating what you should and shouldn't listen to - why the f**k would i do that?

but to me band music is sh*t. the reason "the island is moving away and exploring other ideas" is because the promoters have seen the new trend of band music and know that it'll make them money.

Tom Middleton is musical director for Mish as well as main resident.

I'd expect a dance based sound with mash up of rock, guitars & electro.

Tom is also big into movies, so expect some interesting stuff with this years theme.

I agree that the "trend" the now is band music and people do jump on bandwagons to easily and just because it's "in" doesn't mean it's all good music.

i agree. i just wanted to make the point that i don't like it a long with others and not everybody thinks the new ibiza rocks night are awesome. to me it's just a new fashsion or whats "in" at the moment. and some people can't help but follow any fashsion.

Exactly! I have same view....

The dance/guitar crossover is hardly a new 'fashionable' thing. Look at Soulwax, Daft Punk, Erol Alkan to name a few from the past few years. It's done no harm to nights like Fabric Live in London either.

In terms of 'rock bands', correct me if i'm wrong but aren't most club nights dance based this year? It's just Ibiza Rocks that have 'rock bands' really. Even then it's hard to put LCD Soundsystem and CSS in that category.

Manumussion had full bands playing in 2004...

I reckon the dance/rock crossover is here to stay for some time. Live bands are just another element for club events. There's more than enough purely electronic music and DJs around too.;)

In my opinon, Ibiza stands for freedom to express yourself, party the way you want and live life the way you want. And that does not include musical restrictions. Making or playing music and entertaining people is a beautiful creative process and that does exactly fit in my view of the Ibiza vibe. Dance or Live, go where you want to go. It's not like electronic music is dying or anything...

the point i'm making is i personally think band music is ****. wether in ibiza or not. nobody needs to try and justify if its good or not, or if it should be in ibiza - my opinion is it's not my sort of music.

people can listen to what they want and obviously there is never going to be only one style of music in ibiza.

I was there for the manumission opening night at Priv

Was awesum!!! Best night of my week, Dave Pearce gatcrasher at
Eden was banging too - got to meet the man himself!

Look Stacey is only expressing her opinion - she doesn't like band music. Get over it for fecks sake!

Shes not saying no one should listen to it or appreciate it.

Trigger - we are not talking about dance/rock crossover we are talking about dance OR rock in clubs.....
