Mainland to Island travel

Hey guys,

If i fly out from to Barcelona, how hard is it for me to get to the isle from the mainland ?

Must i go by plain, are their ferries ?

Reason being a return flight to Barcelona would save me about 1800$

Iberia and Spanair have direct flights, but I would check expedia or something similar for deals
