Lost Property...

Has anyone ever handed a jacket into a club's cloak room, but then lost the ticket stub?

I foolishly did this on Saturday night, but it was my girlfriends jacket. I knew that the ticket stub was between the numbers 200 and 250, but when I described the coat to the guy behind the counter, he said he couldn't see it anywhere.

I slipped the guy some money and asked him if he could check the whole room, but he was still saying he couldn't find it!

After being told that the jacket definitely wasn't there over 5 times, I decided to let it drop.

Is there anything I can do? Or do I just admit that I'm a tool...and never be trusted with cloak room duty again :spank:

I travelled from Leeds to York today as that was the only Zara out of Leeds, Manchester, Sheffield & Birmingham to have the same jacket in stock.

I'm now £115 lighter, but at least she has her leather jacket back I suppose!

The End.

A lot of clubs have a little disclaimer notice when you go in saying they won't be responsible for any losses etc. Normally if you lose your ticket you either have to wait til the very end or go back the next day to claim it but unfortunately if it's not there's very little you can do cos the clubs tend to cover themselves against this happening.

Yeah, I thought as much. I've e-mailed the club to see if it was left behind, but had no reply as yet.

I would have stayed till the end, but I wasn't really up for waiting until 9am Sunday!

Nevermind though, managed to get a new one at least.

I believe the 'accepts no responsibility' is a whole load of pap to frighten people off.

If you have paid them to look after the coat & they lose it then they are liable. The key is that you have paid them for a service & have a contract. (offer, acceptance & then the fee for consideration).

I think. No, im pretty sure.

However how that stands as you lost the ticket yourself i do not know. But as a point, ignore notices that say anything like that.

Ben lost one of his jackets in a club and never got it back :spank: It's sickening because you know it's going to be there at the end of the night and someone will be wearing it the next day. Very few people would accept a coat in club that is not their own.

(Or am I too honest for my own good  )

From a legal standpoint that notice is worthless (apparently). It's merely a (very successful) means of putting 99% of lost jacket claimants off their scent, and usually include a missive fobbing you off with a token payment of £50.

Oh. just seen agentundercover has said the same thing...

I lost one of my jackets a few years ago in a club in Bristol....they basically told me that I never even put it in the cloakroom despite having a ticket!:x

Well....being 5am, a little worse for wear and ready to have a debate with the world and its son this didnt go down too well with me and I refused to leave until it was found!! My friend and I were then removed after an hour:oops: , a little bit of a quarrel  and alot of struggling with the bouncer   and banned from the club for good!

It was sooo frustrating but what can you do?:x Totally sympathise with you though!

(Feel a bit silly now when I remember that story...my jacket was only 15 pounds from the Miss Selfridge sale!  But thats not the bloody point is it?! )

Is that true?? I'm just too gullible for my own good

In future I think I'll tell everyone to leave their coats at home, or just take them but don't give the tickets to me.

I hope the replacement I bought today is the right one - ARGH what if it's not! :x

I think you deserve good boyfriend points alone just for the effort!:D

Ha ha...thanks! :)

Anyway, moment of truth...she is on her way to my house now.

I'm almost sure it's the right one...almost, kind of, nearly. :?
