Losing that beer belly in time for Ibiza

Like pretty much every year I join the gym few months before Ibiza and hammer the cardio and lose about a stone for Ibiza. The problem is I get home from IBiza, quit the gym, eat **** and drink alot and it all goes back on. Its getting to that time of year again and although ive been a member of the gym for over a month now ive struggled to go more than twice a week down to pure lazyness. Does anybody else have this problem? or who is currently goin the gym and being successfull and has any tips on the best workout to do to lose that extra bit of unwanted flesh. Dont go till 2nd Sept so I have more than enough time to smash it now. Im not fat, just defo on the untoned side of things.:?

a personal trainer told me diet can be 70% of it. ie you can hammer the gym but if your not eating to lose weight or eating badly then it might not be as effective. beers / going out at weekends has always been my downfall . low carb diets do work but you need to make it sustainable ie not atkins

Ive lost half a stone in 10 weeks just cutting back on the **** I eat and going the gym for a month in between couple times a week. Problem I have is I get so bored of the gym. I usually run for about 45-50 mins at a good pace and feel great afterwards but any other kind of exercise doesnt make me burn as many calaries as running so I just stick to the same thing all the time, which then gets me bored and I dont end up going. I suppose it would be better to do 1 day running, another day swimming etc. Been playing abit of racket ball lately aswell which ****s me. Whatever happens ill defo lose the weight I always do, just wonderd what fitness routines etc people had.

Are there any parks / green spaces near you? Ive got into jogging round my local park . having things to look at whilst your doing it makes the time go way quicker than in the gym and you can set yourself visual goals which you def cant do in a gym. You can incorporate body weight exercises (press ups , sit ups , back raises , squats etc) into various places along the way.

also dont place too much emphasis on weight alone. go by how clothes fit and how you look in the mirror. also a propper waist measurement. weight can fluctuate and muscle weighs more than fat

This is what I do, but it takes self discipline.

NO Bread.

NO Fruit.

NO Dairy.

NO Carbs after 6pm

Limited booze ( couple of glasses of wine only).

500 cal burn 6 days a week.

5 HTP.

Conjugated linoleic acid (CLA).

Result -

6 weeks = 1 stone lost.

I had aimed to loose a stone for going as well but have tried to do the gym 4 times a week and just cant hammer it like i used to when i was younger. I have 2 weeks until I go so I have went on a no carbs diet for first week and second week is liquid diet.. ie soup soup and more soup.. some nights I can have tomatoes, oranges etc but cutting carbs really gets the weight off for me.

Hey look, even if you are a bit flabby so what... looks are fine but if your a cracking lad that makes people laugh then thats who the girls want to dance on the beach with  i know this as I go on holdiays with the girls and we hate the tanned toned guy in the speedos.. we like the fat dude doing the truffle shuffle :D

I've lost two and a half stone (give or take) in four months.
Still got another stone to go before I'll be happy with my shape. Two months to do it in, so plenty of time.

I try and burn 850 kcal in the gym, and try and eat ok. No full fat ready meals, avoid things with high concentrations of fat and sugar in, bar Softmints. (I need something to kill the cravings for things like chocolate). I go to the gym four times a week, and am now aiming to cycle to work twice a week on top of this.

Forget hittin the treadmill and get doin weights.

Liftin big weights + high intensity interval training + good diet = best weight loss program you'll EVER do.

Canny agree more 8) Weights burn more calories that cardio, apparently :)

Cut carbs out and drink lots of water aswell 8)

Im 5 foot 11 and the last 2 years ive weighed 14 and half stone before starting the gym for Ibiza. Both years I went to Ibiza at 13 and half stone. Ideally id like to get to 13 stone this year im 14 at the moment. I lost the weight dead easy last last couple years, just went the gym atleast 3 times a week for an hour burning 400-500 cals. And I never did a diet as such. I just watched everythin I eat , didnt eat after 7pm and cut out chocolate and crisps. I think sticking to a strict diet of no carbs etc just ends up getting you down.

interested to know what part the 5 HTP plays in your diet? Or is that for clubbing recovery?

It helps with cravings and mood swings which come when I cut out carbs.

I do carry on with the "medication" whilst in Ibiza and a week after I return home.

You are spot on with this one, and the more you do then the more muscle you build, this in turn causes your resting metabolic rate to rise and you burn more calories doing the same things.

so when we talk about heavy weights , what sort of reps are we talking? ie heavy enough that you cant do more then x in one go

edit* just weighed myself and have lost nearly 4 kilos which is over half a stone in roughly 2 weeks.this must be down to reduced carbs more than anything as thats the main change i have done so its weight that can go back on very easilly
